Producer
Threewave Software is looking for a Producer who will help push Threewave Softwares game experiences to the next level. The Producer leads multi-disciplinary teams through the game development lifecycle according to our production processes on specific game titles. The Producer is ultimately responsible for the overall vision, quality and delivery of the product. The Producer must ensure that this vision is realized in every aspect / discipline and the project is completed on time and on budget, while maintaining a commitment to Threewave Softwares industry-leading quality standards. This position manages the project side of game development, meeting the planned schedule, defined feature set and resource constraints to deliver a high-quality game to market.
Core Responsibilities:
Develops, maintains and effectively executes the project plan to establish critical paths and recommended course of action for completing the game.
Responsible for ensuring that each Lead carries and drives the vision of the product forward.
Ultimately responsible for ensuring the project schedule is updated on a weekly basis.
Plans and manages the production of the game, allocating resources and developing an effective and efficient schedule, budget and milestone plan to deliver the game; communicating up to date schedules to the team and Executives on a weekly basis.
Ensures timely and accurate asset flow - manages, coordinates and controls the delivery of assets, tools and features, and quality assurance.
Works with the team leads to assign work and monitor progress, to produce clear project plans for the entire project including prototype, pre-production and production plans, staffing plans, pipeline and sharing plans.
Coordinates resources for the team, ensuring team is fully staffed and supplied with all necessary equipment.
Works with the Director of Product Development to establish and communicate project goals, objectives, plans and milestones to the project team.
Works with functional managers to continuously manage trade-offs between quality, scope, resources and time during the project lifecycle.
Risk Management - Identify, analyze, prioritize, mitigate and communicate project risks.
Facilitates all decisions of the production team and involves others in problem solving, decision making and creative thinking; responsible to make decisions so the project can move forward, should there be a conflict or problem that cannot be resolved.
Act as the products advocate both internally and externally, ensuring appropriate focus is given to issues that may hinder the products success in the marketplace.
Manage outside contracts as required.
Documents, communicates and administers key project management processes within the project team and across the company. Coach others on project management processes and best practices.
Stays current and is conversant with PM industry standards - educates & shares with other Production team members. Analyze applicability of new standards and implement when it makes sense.
Education & Experience:
3-5 years of experience with scheduling resources and managing projects of significant complexity.
Experience in the Information Technology or entertainment industry is required.
Required:
Has functioned as a Producer or an Associate Producer on at least one published videogame product.
Excellent attention to detail is essential, including ability to offer suggestions to Leads and Executive management.
Able to identify and solve problems creatively without guidance.
Love of gaming and desire to push the industry forward.
Demonstrates excellent decision making skills, building upon the problem analysis to identify viable solutions and recommending or making a choice from amongst the options.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Strong problem solving and decision-making ability.
Ability to work effectively under pressure with passion and drive; coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.
Be independent in nature, with strong ability to delegate direction; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is required.
Superior time management and organizational skills are essential.
A background in any of the basic gaming disciplines (Project Management, Design, Art or Programming).
Very proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, etc
), have good typing skills, and a broad knowledge / familiarity with scheduling software.
Preferences:
Experience working on various platforms, including but not limited to Xbox360, DS, Wii, PC, PSP, PS2, PS3, etc
University degree or graduate of a recognized post secondary program in project management is preferred.
Experience in Agile Project Management and use of SCRUM methodologies is preferred.
SCRUM Master Certification is an asset.
Experience using Perforce considered an asset.
