Looking awesome! The thumb looks a bit too long and needs to be pulled forward a bit I think. I also think it would look more natural if the feet were pointing outward a bit.
very nice! agreed about the thumb but it's barely noticeable, just a little bit shorter. I love to face.
The collar looks a bit simplified. there could be more volume to it. Some painted shadows should do it though.
Looking cool modeling_man, kinda makes me want to do a military guy, as I don't think I have ever created a ww2 character ( something that is usually done in ones career:)
Maybe add a little bulk to the upper shoulder area, as the arms feel thin to me.
Very sweet work. I love his face, and helmet looks pretty nice too. This brown pockets on his belt, its the texture so low res or its scaled down uv? 'cos its the only thing that take my attention.
Great modelling, keep it up
Sweet work modeling_man. There is a squareness to the cross section of the helmet that Im not sure is accurate, and I'd be inclined to agree that the arms feel a tad thin considering those bulky tunics. I'd also agree that turning the feet out just slightly would make it a tad more aesthetically pleasing. Lots of character in the face, great model.
oh fudgestick! i forgot to say [in my excitement to mention iron storm]: the 'overcoat' seems to look a bit strange at the bottom of it. I can't really express this too well, but the shading looks a bit wonky?
and [obviously its a WIP but:] don't forget to make nice wrinkles where the straps go over the cloth. Oh, and add some damage to the helmet or gas mask? he can't be using brand new equipment right?
Updates:
Beefed up the arms
Turned out the feet a bit
Lots of tiny texture stuff.
Now I remember why I stopped this project...it was seriously rushed when I started it, and quality reference was a pain in the ass to find! If anyone can find me info on WWI Flamethrowers, specifically the back and how they were worn please send me a PM.
Thanks Nostradamus!
Some great reference in that link...so good I have to rework the gas tank!
I'll track down that movie too;)

NOTE: On further examination these are images from WWII, of Japanese flame throwers...while good reference I think the flamethrowers of WWI were different.
Your texture has a lot of high freq. detail(noisy cloth paterns and such) and low freq. detail(base colors) but nothing inbetween, if you're looking at this guy at any normal distance that you'de see him in a game he's going to look very cartoony, because thats all you're see is the base colors. So i'de work a lot more on the readability of the materials, dont concentrate on making super fine details, but details you'll actually see.
theres tons of cool color ww1 photos here: http://www.worldwaronecolorphotos.com/
but i wouldnt recomend trying to match these exactly, as some of the material variation can be very boring(even tho it looks cool in these photos) but exagerating and adding much more detail, wear, dirt, etc to your textures.

This is really more of a warm up before I get back into my GI Joe's:)
Spark: I'll definitely take a look at his arms, I was noticing the same thing.
I found that kind of gas mask (with a different color) yesterday from my dead grandfather's garret and I can say you've modeled it correctly
Great modelling, keep it up
is looking good
