It almost looks like they've tried for the Clone Wars style. Though I don't really see it working all that much for Transformers though. Who knows, once its all moving and whatever it may actually look pretty decent.
i cant believe that there are people that say that this series arent about toys lol. I dig the style, kinda like clonewars, but i dont see it working for a robots series.

So now Prime is a firetruck? Would someone try to keep SOME consistency? let me guess, the motorcycle is Jazz now.

Prime was also a firetruck in Robots in Disguise, the cartoon/toy line from about 5-6 years ago. He was actually wicked bitchin' as far as toys go, too. He has also been a monkey and a pickup truck, and cybertronian truck/car things, and has been a combiner, as well.
This is NOT Generation 1. They'll make shit up and do as they please to tell toys to kids.
I like the style but I think this show is going to suck. I hope it has cool toys though.

I'm assuming that this cartoon is going to be "inspired" by either the movie, or the generation 1 cartoon. The designs for the characters certainly seem to imply that. I am personally not liking the style they are going for. It's far too organic and curved for characters that are supposed to be giant robots. Very exagerated. If the writing and voice acting is very good, I would be willing to give it a chance. The fact that its being produced by Cartoon Network is in its favor. A lot of their original series have been very good. (Samurai Jack ftw!) But this initial art style does not inspire confidence.
Whenever someone says "This is not Gen 1, Prime was also a Firetruck in RID, he was also a monkey in Beast Wars so don't expect him to be like G1" And that kinda crap I just want to stuff my fist in my mouth...
Just because for 20 years Hasbro has been creating transformers series "loosely based on", "including the character names of", "using the same color schemes as characters from" Generation 1. Does not make it any more bearable.
So you come across a sect of dog slayers in your neighborhood. They've been dragging the neighborhood dogs through mud for the last 20 years. Is it OK because they been doing it for 20 years? No....
The point is Hasbro should wise up and treat the original, G1 characters with respect. Bring them back in a mature style with elevated story telling. They should have done it long ago.
yes lets give these robots that turn into cars the propper respect they deserve.. ok they deserve no respect, they are just tools to entertain/make a buck do whatever you want with it.
The story is going to be written by the guys that have done Teen Titans and The Batman, so I'm holding out for a decent story at least.
The story released so far is that these guys are on earth and fighting evil humans. Decepticons are taking a back seat this time around as the main badguys. They'll still be in it, just not the focus.
cant be worse than Armada, i think it was. with the kids and mini-cons that only they could understand.. or the series that was in the the future of Armada with the teen guy who had a some innate power or something with the machines..
Fucking hell.
At least Johnny can detach the style from the content. Don't just slag off the style because they're "killing your inner child".
And stop being the internet equivalent of the Simpsons' comic-book guy. It's getting old, fast.

MORE HEROES FOR YOUR BUSINESS!
this image is horrid. but Hasbro hasn't know how to properly handle this brand since the mid-late 80s so its no surprise to me.
It may be quick and cheap to produce, but it looks like shit.
Though I'll hold further judgement till I see it moving.
I've never followed the fiction since RiD, so it's no big deal if I have to skip this one too.
looks better than the first.
Primes head is still too detailed for this style in my opinion.

and why do they all have a red light on their left side of the vehicle mode?
(*also insert rant about super low budget/live action stuff on Adult Swim)
My guess about the red light: It will flash when they talk while in vehicle mode

and they're not really killing it, they're just dressing it up in funny outfits and letting the kids ride them.

We'll see.
Is Optimus Prime now just going to go around and put out fires? Last I checked a human is no match for a bloody giant robot.

I'm betting it's so said light can flash when they speak in vehicle mode.
