Blue Street Studios is developing a K.I.S.S themed game for PC/X 360 and are looking out for freelance 3d Artists and animators.
Remote contract is ok, must have ability to talk on Skype.
Not photorealistic, but stylised photorealism....really great opportunity to
do some nice game art as opposed to the ultra realistic stuff you commonly
see.
What we like to see in portfolios:
Character Artists:
1>Strong understanding and application of good edge loop modelling,UV unwrapping and hand texturing 3d characters and props.
Painterly approach to creating textures from scratch is preferred.
2>Intelligent use of Normal and Spec maps using Zbrush/Mudbox as a hi-rez modelling package to enhance detail creatively.
3>Portfolio should show good range in tonal values for skin, hair and clothes with clearly demonstrated ability to differentiate materials based on colour, texture and specularity.
4>Humans with a strong sense of character, in terms of modelling style, texture choices and overall look and feel.
Character Animation:
5>If you are applying for an animation position, then we would like to see characteristic runs/walks and talk animations which have good timing and a sense of weight.
Knowledge of 3ds Max and Character studio is mandatory for character animators.
Environment Artists:
6>If you are applying for an environment position, we would like to see how well you can optimize a model and reuse textures in your UV layouts without getting repetitive.
Knowledge of Zbrush and Mudbox to generate normal maps, as well as using the Nvidia filter in photoshop is preferred.
Modelling package can be Maya, max, Lightwave, modo ,silo etc. , but the package must be able to export out OBJ files and multiple UV sets/material IDs.
7>Experience in porting your game model across to an engine and making the textures work with the engine lighting is good.
8>Understanding of next-gen shaders as to how spec, normal and height maps can contribute to the look in-game.
What we dont want to see in portfolios:
1>No spaceships or heavily armed futuristic killer Marines with 3 million polygons.
2>No cars or architectural walkthroughs/models.
3>No military vehicles or weaponry.
4>No cartoony stuff, we prefer semi-realistic or photorealistic appoaches for this project.
5>No explosions,fluid dynamics or cloth simulation heavy reels.
