This has happened to a few of us when skinning in Max 9. Some verts don't get affected by painting or by manually setting their weight via the spinner, and when youlook at them in the weight table their weight is set to -1.
#IO on some arbitrary bone.
I first ran into this when skinning my Dom War guy (VERY frustrating when I was already pissed it with it).
Since then it#'s ahppened on random occasions, and today it happened on a characters face when I was blending the face and jaw bone.
I've tried searching on -1.
#IO but had no luck.
Anyone else had this? Fixed it?

It's also letting us go over 1.0 for the total vert weight - I have a vert weighted 0.669, 0.402 and -1.#IO
Hmmm...maybe I can script a scan, set the -1.#IO to 0, then clear Zero Weights.

So no-one else yet? This is Max 9 SP1, and has also occured in vanilla max 9.
If you haven't checked that is.
Might have been in conjunction with Skin or Die.
