yeah, i think the deadline could do with being extended... I don't mind the technical constraints, but there's already only 10 days left and there only 5 entrants... i would take a crack at it if i thought i had a chance in hell of finishing it in just over a week
Thanks for the extended deadline kub, gives me a chance to get in on this goodness.
1024 texture size is fucking sweet! Splitting it up into 128 gives you 64 textures!
Concepting now!
Thanks for the ref links too.
Thanks for that link IronHawk and for the Burnside ref pic, came in really handy for my (possible) entry. Last week on the project then 2 weeks off, so I can get a proper start on this mofo.
So jealous of that park (3rd Lair), shame we don't have parks like that here in Melbourne.
The Lair is sick. I have had the chance to see some great demos there and skate with some bad asses.
Burnside is fun as well and the story behind it is cool. When I lived in Oregon my friends and I would roadtrip to Portland just to hang out and skate there for a few days.
We have some other smaller local parks as well and this place is only a 2 miles from my house.
I'll be putting together a concept myself here soon. Wont make the deadline as I have to much else going on. Going for a basement park theme. Had a bunch of ramps in my basement growing up. Wall rides in the basement. Good times.
IronHawk, seeing as you'll be knocking up a concept, did you want to go halves on an entry? I've been meaning to start my entry for a good while now, but I've been crunching at work the past few weeks and been doing way too many late nights to get any work done on it. I have the next 2 weeks off so I can get cracking with some modeling.
Your basement idea sounds similar to something I was going for, so figured if you were going to knock something up, I can try bring it to life.
PM me if you're keen dawg.
there is an actual 3d model of Burnside in Deventer (the Netherlands) on this website: http://www.burnside.nl/ click on park and then on the small thumbnails to see it.

And from my understanding, it's 1024 per pass. So 1024 diffuse, 1024 normal, spec, illumination, et cetera.
JET SET RADIO FUTURE
I kinda like the specs the way they are too, it's a good challenge if you want to nextgenize all that
