3D Environment Artist

Mid-Senior Level

Threewave Software is seeking experienced Environment Artists to provide strong artistic assets to our newest exciting PC / Console titles. Threewave Software believes in supporting team effort and is looking for team players who are bright, love a challenge and who are highly motivated.

* Area of Focus: Map Creation / Terrain Textures
* Preferably previous game environment asset creation.
* Strong understanding of level design / game environment requirements
* FPS player preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Committed independent worker, self-sufficient in his / hers artistic and technical / production skills and time-management, working closely with the art director on design and development of the visual aspects of the game.
•Creation of art assets and concepts of consistent high quality.
•To be made accountable for art production and design development of game areas, making creative decisions to maintain consistent style (like characters, or terrain, or UI, etc...
•To be a mentor & be mentored in making creative decisions to maintain consistent style.
•Prove proactive in problem solving with other team members.
•To motivate others and maintain positive professional attitude.
•To work with the team and art director to ensure all milestones are met on time.

SKILLS:

•Thorough knowledge and efficiency using 3D modeling and animation packages, including but not limited to 3D Studio Max or Maya.
•Building and texturing organic and inorganic environment models.
•An eye for light, shade, color and detail in creating texture maps.
•Exceptional ability to design and produce game art assets.
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
•Proven personal expertise in traditional art skills.
•Ability to multi task under pressure.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

•BFA from an accredited art or design institution,equivalent diploma and/or equivalent work experience.
•Background in 3D Animation/Concept/Graphic/and or Architecture design.
•At least 1 year previous experience in an Environment Art related position in the game industry.
•Keen interest in playing games and the future of the gaming industry.

BENEFICIAL BUT NOT REQUIRED:

•Experience in cross-platform development.
•Familiarity with modern texture creation including diffuse,specular and bump maps.
•Traditional art, drawing, design studies and conceptual illustration.

•Examples of lighting composition, use of light and shadows
•Examples of different artistic styles
•Examples of various spectacular (explosions)
•Examples of natural effects (smoke, fire, water)
•Examples of texture creation
•Prop, objects Designs
•Example of animations
