As Per128 said, it looks promising, but hopefully you are using more references of Akuma to help you figure out the face, as the concept you have is hinting as to what he looks like which is a hard thing to recreate. One thing I would suggest is to get the form right, before taking it to far in the details, they help but if the base form is off, no amount of detail will cover it up. Keep it up, and hope these suggestions help.
Per: Thank you, I will get around to the Jaw/Mouth today and see what I can do! Also if you wanted to post your WIP Shots in this thread of your AKUMA that would be very cool!
Spark: I am indeed using more references than the one I posted, as for the details this is as "detailed" as it's going to get, I was greatly inspired by Pior's work!
The concept... AMAZING!
The sculpt... Not as impressed.
As a sculpt on its own its looks nice, but if it weren't for the ball necklace, it wouldn't read that well as Akuma.
The nose in the concept looks really hard and pointy where in your sculpt its very flat and rounded.
Per already mentioned the jaw and mouth, so I'd echo that.
definitely got the likeness rollin, the tip of the nose could be a little flatter to get it more like the concept. also the way the forehead connects the eyebrows may be a little strong. Really nice work.
Much better, in concepts akuma always have a thin but strong vertical line on his jaw, where you got a fat weak line. what Cybroxide said about the eyebrows is right. Also some times Akuma has pointy ears and sometimes he has round ears, but not as pointy as yours I believe.
personally I like the round ears variant more I think it is more like capcom made it.
Thanks for the crits guys! here are my two main refs
and
I totally agree about the nose and chin! and as for the forehead I was shooting for the first ref, but it does seem just a bit too strong, I will see what I can do!
Have to be honest though, I'm getting pretty eager to start the torso!
oh jesus. there's the problem right there. Using that horribly animated Generations movie to make Gouki. I really disliked the art from that movie. They had such an amazing style in 2 and Alpha, so I was really disappointed in the Generations movie.
I'll see if I can scrounge up some better source art for you that I think better reflects him.
If only Joe Madureira had drawn him like he did Ryu and Sagat in that one shot from the Udon comics series.
amazing. But I do like the feel of your head so far. I'm a huge huge huge huge huge Street Fighter man, III: Third Strike being the all time best, as well as Ken Masters... But Gouki is fun.
@Maddness:
That's not generations, that's SF ALPHA the movie. Generations does have a strange style though.
@ThatDon:
I Like what you've done, but I'd agree that the flatness of the Chin & nose is very distinct in Akuma. He has almost a lion-like feal to his face, the wide flat nose being the main element.
The expression looks great so far, but i think that some of the features could be a bit sharper. looking forward to seeing more, keep up the good work.
lookin good!! although i think the jaw could be a little wider. other than that i can't wait to see the finished product. BTW, here akuma from the udon SSF2THD if you haven't seen him yet.
Holy shit, thanks for that ref SupRore, I will be sure to post some updates on him when I have time to make them....pretty busy right now with a art test thingy.
As a complete and utter Street Fighter fanboy, it'll be hard for me to refrain from being biased and saying this is the best piece of work on this forum! But I will try.
The areas you've worked on so far definitely have the likeness. But alot of personality is in his flaming red hair so it'll be easier to judge how well you've got him down once you work that in. And I also agree with everything said sofar.
But yeah, this is really good - that's the objective side of me talking, I swear, lol.

Gouki from generations looks way worse:

If you want to reference the Udon version, there's tons of akuma in their DA: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/51189755/ is a good start.
the ultimate image resource for fighting game characters.
PS. why is Akuma always look super pissed? i mean sure hes suppose to be one mean dude but like not even 1 smile once in a while?
Oh, wrong game hehe :P
You gotta do it, I wants some nexgen SF goodness.
