Hi guys!
I've compiled a few different prop models for HL2DM without any problems, but now I'm doing one thats a bit more complicated and it keeps running into the same error "bad collision model, check your smoothing groups. Warning: Truncating model Warning: tower_arch has bad smoothing groups Model has 1 convex sub-parts"

I've gone through each piece that makes up the collision mesh 3 times and made sure each one has its smoothing group set to 1 in max. Is there anything else that might cause this error?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Are you exporting in animation smd or reference mesh smd?
That might be causing the problem.

reference mesh. Like I said, I've compiled a few models before without problems so I know what format I'm supposed to export to... I'm technically doing everything properly but its still giving me the error... its really weird.

    erm what about,

    1) Exporting it as a 3ds, reimport it, weld the verts, reassign the smoothing then try? Max sometimes goofs up .max files

    2) Reset Xforms, Collapse to Edit Poly, Then Apply Smoothing Groups to 1 again

    3) Check you haven't got any hidden meshes in the scene or incorrectly applied textures

    4) What does the collision mesh look like? Maybe it is to complex?

    Good luck
