And it begins.... the resolution wars. I saw this on Digg the other day and thought it was interesting, but waiting to see if it goes anywhere. I think it might be difficult to get broadcaster to invest the money into another video tech when they haven't made up the HD investment so far (at least I doubt they have).
What I fear is this turning into a war like CPUs... One year HD is the shit, then a couple years later Super Hi-Vision takes over, then the next higher res enters the market....
Probably wont be as long as the time between 1969 and 2007 though. The speed at which we are able to bring forth new technologies is exponentially faster now than it was back then. But I woudl agree that it is doubtful we'll see it take a strong hold in the next five years.
i think the biggest hurdle would be an affordable media format that could hold the amount of information that a movie of that rez would occupy.. i am sure it would hundreds of gigs.

Who knows. I do like the sound of 4x cinema resolution though.
