I looked around to see if I could find any other news story about that massive pig and I could not find any so im saying it's bogus I have never heard of wild pigs come even close to that size !
you didnt look very hard, i found it on lots of news sites, and its an associated press story, not like its a blog or something. Also its fucking alabama, if you think thats big you should see some of the people that live in that god forsaken wasteland.
Jamison, of Pickensville, said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "It's a good accomplishment. I probably won't ever kill anything else that big."

http://www.monsterpig.com is the homepage made by the boy. I think its funny that the site is sponsored by a cookers and grills site. Pretty horrible that he just killed the thing, I would imagine I'd be too terrified to move if I saw that thing.
Well obviously it would benefit science more if it was captured and studied alive, but what the fuck exactly was this kid supposed to do? "Hello, 911, please send some scientists and some guys from the Jurassic Park movie to capture this thousand pound hog that shouldn't exist." I'm sure that would go over really well. And by the time he actually could get someone to come there I'm sure it would be long gone and everyone would consider him a liar and the whole thing a hoax.
That first image is faked. The kid is standing back a good few feet from the hog. The fucking thing's big enough - there's no need for that.

Haha...Now that would be news. You up for a hunting trip? I live in Maine. There are all kinds of things to hunt up here from bear, moose, deer to all the fat chicks walking in wal-mart.
im sorry ., but this comment made me think that there are truely sick people :

Jamison,
I normally don't reply to things such as this I might find on the internet, but I saw all the negative responses, and I felt I needed to write. I saw your story in an internet forum I frequent at DeerTexas.com . I want to say congratulations on your successful hunt. Don't pay any attention to the negative responses. There is something evil about anyone who would wish harm to any other human for doing something as natural as hunting for food. As you can see from my picture, I too hunt pigs. I took my pictured pig at nearly midnight with no moon. (Legal in Texas on private property.) I used an Armalite AR10-A4 .308 with a Leupold 4.5x14 lit reticle scope. Don't believe anyone who says no one hunts with military style guns. He weighed more than 300 pounds because he pegged our 300 pound scale. He's my biggest, but nowhere near yours in size. I think it is great that you get to hunt with your dad. I believe if more people would take their kids hunting, we'd have less problems in this country. My wife and I don't have any kids of our own, so I recently began volunteering on the Texas State Rifle Association's youth hunting committee. We take young people on fully sponsored hunts along with one parent or legal guardian. This is how strongly I believe everyone should get the chance to hunt at an early age. Remember, what you did was a good thing you will remember the rest of your life. Ignore the negative comments. Congratulations! Pat Jolly"
Atleast the pig had a good life. Probably rooted lots of lady pigs, ate and slept all day, not like the ones they grow in factories. If you want to see inhumane then go find out how pork gets on the supermarket shelves. Im sure they killed it as quick as they could, Im surprised it took only 8 shots. 50 cent took 9 lol
I saw this yesterday and thought...why kill it? I didn't see a reason anywhere in the news report as to why they felt they should kill it. I'm no tree hugger, I just feel that if you're gonna kill something, have a reason. Something like this though, as huge and unique as it is, should have been left alone in my opinion. I hope they at least ate it.
It's an instinct I suppose. See a giant pig, kill it, tell stories of it later, show off some trophies from it.
I agree with KP, but he should smear the blood all over his body, that would really make the imagery complete. Then for the rest of his days wear a cape made of the giant boar's fur, Hercules style.
I have no problems with people hunting for their own food, as long as the animal they're hunting isn't endangered or threatened in any way as a species. I don't think I could ever go hunting though, I don't like seeing animals suffer and die. Although I have no problems eating an animal that I DIDN'T see suffer and die.
well coming from a family were hunting is sort of a big thing, I have been hunting for 7 or 8 years now, and you really don't see much suffering when it comes to average game. Certainly nothing that last 3 hours. It's usually a bang and it drops. Although I've never hunted anything larger than a deer.
It's not the animals that I worry about, it's the people who enjoy it that have me scratching my head. The kid in the article said "It's a good accomplishment." Using a gun to kill is easy. With an armed escort, against a target so massive you can hardly miss? Not exactly The Snows of Kilimanjaro. Maybe we can get him a Congressional Medal of Honor for taking the training wheels off his bike...

Armed forces? Must have been an Iraqi hog.
However, I wouldn't mind seeing that thing put into a ring with a Grizzly bear.
Although I'm a little more concerned with an 11 year old boy running around the woods of Alabama with .50 caliber revolver.
kid sitting far from that "thing"

Shoulda shot it with a bow, Princess Mononoke style.

I'm not against hunting per se, but it seems real inhumane chasing a dying creature for 3 hours.

though not as bad as the the people from america's history that used to shoot buffalo from moving trains and kill 400 in a day just for fun.

usualy the larger and older wild animals get the tougher the meat is.
