Can't wait, just wish they'd have given some info on how far into the project they are.

Gamespot journalists who were present at the unveilment were told by Blizzard that the project is very far along and has been in development since they shipped the Frozen Throne Warcraft 3 expansion.
Looks good, I think the visuals are decent(not wonderful) considering the amount of units that people would like to throw around. I was pretty annoyed at the unit cap in warcraft 3 so if this game can make me feel like there isnt a cap then its already on the road to success in my opinion. Sometimes I really get annoyed with all the micromanagement in games like Company of Heroes. Paraworld looked pretty in some ways but its way of managing units was terrible and really ruined the gameplay for me. its an old formula sure but thats what blizzard seem to do: the same thing as everyone else does, just a whole lot better gameplay.
Screens look sweet. Just what I would expect from a Blizz game. Not pushing the tech but still top notch and very polished for the tech level they chose. There gonna make a killing.
I played the original but did not purchase the expansion.
I like it very much but was also a bigger C&C guy.
All that said, I think this looks really great and I'll definatly purchase.
Or they could make it like Supreme commander, and the no one could run it .
As much as we all like pretty visuals, I don't like my RTS game draggin ass when im playing. It tends to frustate me. Especially this being a micro-manage game.
Even if this is rehashed StarCraft 1.5, its still Cah-Ching! Cah-CHinggggg
allright i grabbed the shots off of the highrez version of the video. Tried my best to avoid the motioned blurred shots and instead get nice closeups of the details.
Save for your inspiration folder or something.. Try not to link outside, or the koreans will kill my bandwidth
Beefcake prisoner hooked up with m4d space marine armor and sent off to fight invading alien hordes? Now I see why the game took so long to make; Epic had to release their game first so Blizzard could follow up with Gears of StarCraft!
I think it is very noticeable the quality of the cinematic models improvement even over an already outstanding quality since that Fuasto guy became the lead modeler

Yea, because Blizzard needs to copy epic so that this game will be a success
Dude, no one would play these dumb games if they weren't copying other good ideas. I'm pretty sure that Blizzard let the Flagship guys go off to make Hellgate: London just so they could rip all the neat ideas when they start on Diablo 3!!!!!!!!!!11one

This is pretty random but convicts are often given work release to fight wild fires. I worked along side a few in Montana and Utah.

Do they wear space marine armor?

oh hell yeah. gets locked down at night though so if the fire closes in on the tents there pretty screwed.
That cinematic is one of the best I've ever seen. Amazing style, quality, detail, motion, materials, modelling, animation, biscuits, inflatable gorillas, marmalade!
Being the BIGGEST blizz-whore on the planet, and having nearly 2500 SC:BW wins, I can attest that Blizzard was never known to have cutting edge graphics.
Even Diablo 2 was a 2D Isometric game, when the 3D explosion hit.
I also don't doubt Blizzards ability to drastically change things from their alpha stage.
Here's what Starcraft looked like when they announced it in 1996:
so.. it's wc3 with different graphics.. i just dont get it. CnC3 was the same garbage, same shit different package. Why not make this a FPS/RTS hybrid and push gameplay a tad beyond turtle and swarm?

Because then it wouldn't be SC and fans would be angry. People have been waiting for SC2, the RTS, for 10 years, and if blizzard had tried something else there would have been a lot of pissed of fans.

Because there's no incentive. Blizzard is going to make a hojillion dollars just by doing what they already know how to do. Innovation might be appealing to the creative types on the staff, but from the business perspective, this is a no-brainer. If you have people lining up around the block for your award winning BBQ, you don't screw with the secret recipe just for laughs, you take their money and give them what they came for.
It looks like Starcraft. No more no less. It will be fun to revisit the game in an updated fashion. All the zerg rushing and siege tanks I can handle. The game looks a little old fashioned and behind the times with games like Dawn of War and Company of Heroes out for so long. Im sure Bliz gets plenty of money from WoW to take a chance and push this game a little more than they normally would.

all the planets of the Confederacy are settled by exiled convicts. and the marines are "nuerally resocialized", some with non-invasive procedures.
which makes for a great scene in the book when one of the marines is attacked by a zerg and the brain panning fails and they revert back.

the criminals becoming the Terran Marines is something mentioned 6 years ago in the 2001 novel SC:Liberty's Crusade.
