hehe maybe I'm just over excited. I love Tekken series and I have lots of hard core tekken player friends xD
The graphics, from the video, isn't as impressive as games like gears of wars. Because of the small size? I don't know. But still I'm very excited about it.
bryan fury with or without shotgun > all. i don't know if i'm going to like the customizations playing a part like that. juggling someone with a shotgun only to taunt them? eh.
and leo's called leo, but apparently is a girl... or something goofy like that.
Its hardly fair to judge it by a badly compressed Youtube video. Heres a slightly less badly compressed Quicktime version. http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=17086&type=mov&pl=game
The lighting looks a bit strange. It seems like they've deliberately lit the characters so they stand out from the background, which I'm not sure I really like.
I would have liked to see what they've done with Yoshimitsu this time around along with a few of the other earlier characters.
Hmm, I always thought fighting games were the perfect "show off" pieces for any console which could really show the graphical power since their scope is so limited.
If this is all the PS3 can handle I am certainly not impressed.
That is not Tekken 6. During Tokyo Gameshow last year (sunner 2006?) people wanted Namco to show something, so the dev put together a teaser using Tekken 5. It's a PS2 quality shot.
Best to check out the official site for newer shots.
A little note. Those are for Arcades. Namco usually do more improvement to the game when releasing to PS. The arcade machine probably won't be as powerful as PS3, or the hardware will get too expensive for arcade centers to get. Tekken 6 Official
I think it says something when the official site for an HD capable game releases nothing but tiny little screenshots. That's not confidence, it's just hiding something.
It looks like a PS2 game with more polygons. The sets are amazingly boring. Characters are bland, and lit oddly. I'd rather be looking at Soul Calibur III on my PS2. Both DOA4 and VF5 look better than this.
Tekken 6 means another summer spent at the arcade for me which is a good thing. I agree that the PS3(or XBOX 360?) version will look better. The arcade version of Tekken Tag Tournament had basically the same graphics with Tekken 3 but it looks a lot better on PS2 with new character and environment models.
BTW the XBOX 360 thing is here(just a rumor): http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3156143
EDIT: I don't mean this game looks like a PS2 title, I like the trailer a lot!
lol
The latest Virtua Fighter looking better? Are you insane?
That game has a serious case of the "shiny" Not to mention the overly large fabric textures they use throughout the characters.
The latest version of Tekken, along with Soul Calibur, have had some of the best visually looking characters I've seen in a video game.
I'm amazed at the mount of bitching that happens on these forums sometimes when new games come out. Not to be a dick, but it's not as if most of you can produce something significantly better looking.
Yeah, I just went there.
Models and animations look great, just dont feel like theres any real crazy tech going on though, not that thats a bad thing really, but then again I'm much more of a soul caliber fan in terms of fighters.
mehh
Needs SSS, higher res characters, more detailed environments, and better lighting. Rite now its looking about as "next gen" and halo 3, with halo3 looking a bit better.
Why is it FPS are getting more tech love than fighting games? Hell some FPS are even getting more polygon and texture love.
That image you've just posted at right is infamously known to be from an EA pre-rendered 'visual target' movie sonic, and not in fact realtime on the PS3.
I don't know how you lot can perceive the shitness that you see quite as well as you do from such a low res movie. I don't have a strong opinion either way on the movie, but I find it odd that a community of videogame artists deems it necessary to judge videogame visuals based entirely 100% on whether or not they adhere to some nebulous checklist of 'next gen' graphical features.
Besides, I'd take the clean, hand crafted style of characters from something like Tekken over the messy photo-slapped EA sports stuff any day of the week.

Ding! Don't worry, Daz, these young padawans will eventually learn the error of their ways.
Looks alright to me. I always preferred the playing style of Tekken over the Virtua Fighter and DoA series, it was just more varied and fun IMHO.
Soul Calibur is still the best though...
Daz: I played quite a bit of Fight Night Round 3 for the 360 when it first came out and I really was blown away. I figured those images may have been from EA's prerendered set of videos for their next gen sports titles (like their video and pictures of the new Madden that don't look anything like the title), but I figured it was close enough. It really is a nice looking game, especially for how early it was made during the console's lifespan.

Is it the quality of the Youtube vid? Cause graphically... This isn't looking so great.

Is it just me, or does DOA4 (which I thought was just mediocre) look better than this?

I'm loving that japanese dojo shot.

I thought the characters looked great, in many ways better than the GoW characters. Especially in proportion, and overall material realism.
