Job Description and Responsibilities:
Nest Egg Studios Inc. is seeking an Art Director who is a self starter, willing to bring passion for infusing and inspiring artistic vision into our upcoming mature MMOG demo.
As the Art Director you are responsible for the role art plays in our game demo. You assist the executive producer in writing the artistic guidelines of the project. You will also select (recruit) exceptional caliber artists, mentor, and manage a team of artists to bring your artistic vision life. You will drive the art group to communicate and share all efforts regarding artwork creation. You will have a deep understanding of 2D and 3D software packages and will work closely with the technical director to keep informed on the newest artistic tools. This will ensure, and standardize the most efficient pipelines, processes, and tools to deliver excellence in the timeliest matter. You will be responsible for the overall art production, including planning, design, documentation, quality, and artistic direction. As the project progresses, you have responsibility for maintaining visual consistency. You will review schedule processes, budgets, and issues to assist team goals and provide upper management with oversight on progression.
Requirements:
* Strong understanding of art and development practices, art development pipelines, potential bottlenecks.
* Knowledge of major art applications and technology.
* At least 3 years as a manager or director; managing large, diverse art teams and motivating members to deliver consistent, high quality art, and at least five years previous game industry experience or equivalent.
* Ability to contribute to a positive work environment and ensures art forward momentum.
* Ability to provides motivation and art direction to ensure project goals, objectives, milestones, and deliverables are achieved
* Platform: PC
* Must have excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Desired Skills and Pluses:
* Education: AA, or at least demonstrate through portfolio an industry standard level of art. (preferred) BA in Computer Science or Fine Arts (other college degree) or adequate professional experience.
* Familiarity with standard 3D and 2D computer art applications.
* Strong illustration and concept art skills.
* Understanding of urban/modern/fantasy visual style and a passion to push it to the next level.
* A passion for developing online games.
* Ability to motivate artists and communicate well with designers in a team environment.
This is an (online) position, you must be able to function in an online work environment with a team.
