Hi all,
Just working on the concept drawing right now. I got the idea from searching on google. Looks like some older chess sets used elephants. Might not get enough time to finish this but good practice, right?

Had some time today to get started on modelling. Already up to 1276 with only about half of the model. Working in Blender.

in case u wanted to know.
as for ur model: looking great. i really like the huge thing on the back.. it's shapes [complimentary to that of the elephant's] and sheer size make it look awesome
Had some time to work on a texture today. Still needs some tweaking as you can see. Rendered in Blender with texture and normal map.
That looks fucking awesome! It could use a bit of colour variation to stop it looking so monochromatic. But that aside, great work!

I am blown away by your texturing style, haven't seen anything like that around. If you do choose to add a little more color variation, perhaps something to show remnants of a once painted surface, or maybe something strong and vibrant, like a couple hues of gold as trim or something. As it stands now or a colored variant; brilliant work man, you've got my vote.
I tried adding some color to the diffuse but just ended up looking worse. Don't look at my submission thread or you will see what I'm talking about.
