Did this guy around 7 years ago. He doesn't bend real well. Just a diffuse and bump map, but I have no memory of how I mapped him. Pillars are scanned in pencil sketches on rectangles. Oh well, the nipples turned out okay.
Here are some gems from my first year of modeling at school...never even opened Photoshop, max, maya...any of that stuff before I started. Needless to say, I've seen a little bit of an improvement since then ;D
Oldest thing on my computer....
Everything else died with my other one.
3 years of absolutely shitty artwork, gone. It wasn't until 8th grade I could actually draw
second game character ever, textured with a mouse.
character art test for terminal reality, the rock, for which i sadly did not get a job oh well it sucked anyway, check out dem black hands!
art test for obsidian for kotor 2... for which i also did not get the job! total failure
art test for gearbox... what a failure... they say "we want you to make a highpoly gun" so i make a highpoly gun, then they go "well by highpoly we meant 1300 polys and btw can you make something realistic?"

Oh man thats insane. 1300 polys being high poly. Haha that gun is awesome looking.
I'm still trying to find some old art to post up. It was bad. Really bad.

lol no they're mostly in texas, i actually eventually ended up getting a job at terminal reality as an environment artist. these are all from like... 3-4 years ago, i used to have stuff older than that, but its all gone now, lost in hard drive reformats etc. actually here's another one, this one's a skin for bobo's brunt model:
Core - is it an entry for the current challenge on gameartisan.org? Because I didn´t see your nickname there and I think that you´d have great chances for win with this one...
One of the first models I ever made and animated - in 'truespace 2' !!!
Click the image for the 368kb WMV. Check out the bump mapping and mostly procedural texturing. I think there's a cubic reflection map on that glass hatch too. Circa about '98 - '99. Crazee sk1llzzz.
In terms of total, utter shit, I think I have you all beat. This was my first head sculpt ever, and I'm kind of ashamed to say it now. I don't really know why I even saved the fucker. On top of that, it was over 500,000 polygons.

At least she worked ingame.

I really need to update my site and take that first guy down haha =/
I still use an improved version of her as my female base mesh.
Not textured properly cuz she's just a base. I laughed my ass off when I found how she looked originaly lol
Behold...I got you all beat.

First model ever, from Mar '99. Sitting at 866 tris (polychop modifier on top not included)
And I still texture nothing because I rule.

Oh god...my 2nd model ever, first one I fully animated myself:
From 3 years ago, the only UT2004 model I finished and the first model I made after not making any for 3 years or so:
I think i just got into half-life back then and this was one of the first custom models I downloaded.
Back in the day, 6 years ago, this was my very first character fully modeled and textured.
And thats the same character remodeled recently Still WIP.
Very cool, it'll be interesting to see the recent version finished, is his cape going to slice through his calf in this version as well?
It's amazing seeing how far we've come from comparing old models to new ones.

Seems like I missed a couple things in the great cleansing
