Which way does the arrow go through a heart?(love)

hi all, this may seem a bit stupid, but i'm working on a very important schoolproject and it is about love :P
i've already done a lot of work, but my teacher said to me that my first image of a heart with an arrow pointing from the topright corner to the bottomleft corner throug it was wrong.

I was always fairly certain it was from the bottom left to the top right. Don't quote me on that, though. Have you tried looking it up on Wikipedia?

Shoot her in the heart with an arrow and then ask her opinion.

I don't think there is a standard direction, as there seems to be images of it going in lots of directions, the most common being top left to bottom right or top right to bottom left.

yeah i figured that too, so i think i'll just go topright to bottom left and write about the process in my journal.
i tried looking it up in the real encyclopedia and i couldn't find it.

i said that too as an argument, but then some people said: well he's very tiny so it also makes sence if he shot you from below :P

I think it must be from top left to bottom right.
Because: We read from left to right and we look from left to right and that makes it feel right if the arrow flys from left to right. It also think it should pointing from top to bottom because a arrow always falls a bit.

I think it's BS that your teacher is even questioning the direction. If you're concerned about a grade and basing your art on what your teacher thinks, then just ask what s/he thinks the direction should be. It doesn't matter what we think is right, just the teacher (grade-wise).

Logically, if you want the arrow to have the traditional slant to it, it'd probably need to come from the top left. If it was aimed at top right, it'd have to pierce the sternum, which would be a far more difficult shot.

Myabe theres more to the anatomy thing. Any idea what part of the heart is supposed to be stimulated by emotion?

@notman: it's funny you mention that, somebody i know already said something like that, only that it had to be coming from the bottom, so it can go under the ribs.

lol he's actually quite a nice guy, he just mentioned that he thought it was different from my symbol. he just checked my biology part, and mentioned this. :P (it kinda sucks 'cause i had to do a lot more work on the biology part, while i actually thought i was finished, but it's good to get good crits :P)
