#34 - White King - MoP

OK, spent half an hour doodling over the shape of a king piece tonight, got a few ideas down.

Basically the king is evil, I figured "black king" would have been too obvious to make him all evil and spiky like Sauron or the Witch King from LoTR, so I'm gonna make him opulent, spoiled and greedy instead... he'll be well-dressed in clean clothes, but his evilness will be apparent somehow.

More ideas or maybe a more refined version of the far-right concept to come later.

I like em all but the first one is my favorite. What I like most about the first one is the fur. Just says decadence to me. I think giving the last one some fur coat or a fur on his pimp throne would be just as cool.

The sultan (3rd one) is my favourite. Pimp his floating chair with some fur, give him a big belly ( and maybe bits of half eaten food strewn around him) and you have a winner!

Although I think I prefer what I could do if I painted into a blurred version, it gives me more ideas that way...


Should start model soon... hope I find time to finish this. Probably just gonna do oldschool diffuse, nothing else.

Niiice, kinda reminds me of hedonisim bot from futurama..only if he wasn't a robot, and was a chess piece..yeah. Anyway, great concept, can't wait to see the model starting.

I love your sketches in your first post - really cool idea to paint over the chess piece! If I were going for semi-evil I would have gone for the first... the 3rd seems too 'cute', but with that said it's still the best of the 3 ideas. Look forward to the outcome.
