"Duke Nukem Forever was officially announced on April 27, 1997 along with the purchase of a license to use the Quake II engine."

You know you want a dip, EQ
:P
STALKER has been panned on it's dated visuals.
But that's just my guess based on the events revolving around Daikatana when that was released.
Once DNF is released, they need to have a special edition that includes all versions from previous engines, I still would love to play the version I saw a trailer for on the Unreal Tournament engine from over 5 years ago...

Its a list of a few things that have happened during the time that 'Forever' has been going.

Things that took less time than DNF...
The United States' entire program to put a man on the moon, from Kennedy's challenge to the landing.
Does anyone really beleive they have been making it all that time? they were hiring at one point about 3 years ago, but even then it sounded like it was actually for another project...

Yes, from what I gather from talking to ex 3DR employees it has actually been in a constant state of production for the past 10 years. From what I hear, they could have shipped it in the state it was in from that 2001 gameplay video.
We're still hiring btw. Looking for an environment artist and an animator. It's a really enjoyable place to work.
You heard wrong.

Well, the guy I heard it from was there for the majority of the past 10 years. Just how long have you been there, exactly?
How about a friendly little bet: If DNF ships within the next 5 years while you are still employed at 3DR, I will take you out and buy you a nice steak dinner at the restaraunt of your choice (within the greater DFW area). If you leave 3DR or it does not ship within the next five years you do the same for me. Are we on?
How long I've been working there doesn't matter. All that matters is that I work there, I know what's up, and I know the people that have been there since its inception, and still are there. I've heard all of the stories from multiple people, and have no doubt in my mind that whoever told you that is lying, probably because they are bitter for whatever reason based on whatever "went down." Ultimately you're going to believe your source, and I'm going to believe THE source... I guess we'll find out "when it's done."(tm)
edit: Daz: Will do!
Prey isnt an established franchise that had a large user base when it was announced, noobsauce.
