StJoris : Well she is 50% horse The next one will have more horse.
Japhir : Thanks! I was going for horsey, but foxy is an interesting idea, I think I might go for that instead of horsey. Thanks! These are just sketches.
Looks pretty cool. I'm not sure whether fox and knight go together really, just my opinion, they're not exactly noble or menacing. Wolf maybe, but not fox.
What kind of modeling is that? You're doing awesome... is it NURBS or is that just one iteration of meshsmooth with some settings checked? (the top versions where the outlines are sub-d'd into 4 pieces each)
bounchfx: Thanks man, it's mostly just box/cylinder modelling and some edge extrusion/strip modelling for the face. For the top render it's just 1 iteration of meshsmooth, with wireframe display turned on and a faceted material caseyjones: Thanks casey! conte: I had some good horse proportions going, but then I squished it up a bit ( to get it to fit better on a chess piece ). So well spotted, it does look a bit like a cowtaur now, I'll fix it.
And happy bday!
Thanks conte! I considered a saddle, but with the poly budget and texture space I'd probably end up with an empty saddle. I'm going to go with a nice pair of golden wings instead!
Hmm, not sure about the wings idea. I think this could be much cooler (and the budget better spent) if you just put more "character" into her - the armour is a cool start, more stuff like that and an interesting weapon and she'd be perfect... wings are overdone anyway!
Thanks guys! Great advice MoP, and good point about the wings. Looks like I'm going to have to make a compromise!:
All the coolness of wings, but without the cliche! It's still just a rough block in, so it's still going to change allot. I might break those big wings up into smaller ones.
how are you going about building those parts of armor?
I was watching a tut vid yesterday and one of the techniques he mentioned was building a plane making it the shape you want, then using the Shell modifier? (if you're using max), I've never heard of that technique before but it looked like an easy way to do armor and such
Thanks for the crits guys.
bounchfx: That's exactly the method I'm using. My workflow is usually:
1. Select faces from the basemesh and detach them
2. Apply a relax modifier
3. Tweak the edgeflow to something more appropriate for a hardsurface.
4. Apply a shell modifier with about 4 or 5 segments
really nice! i'd also think of somethink to cover up her boobs :P otherwise it doesn't look as "high" or elflike. (maybe just a simple piece of cloth? just to break up the continues armor?)
mop: Thanks man!

Lovely idea, and I really liked the kind of 'retracted' wing-like armour you had earlier. Personally I'm not too keen on the 80's exaggerated shoulderpads... they just look a little too wide to me. Really nice modelling though. Keep it up!
wow thanks guys! Petrol, I'm going to go back to that design, I liked it too. I might make the shoulder pads a bit less bulky too. Davision3D I'm aiming for a pretty powerful looking woman, a dainty build doesn't go with a centaur I think. I'm going for a Frazzeta type build.
Im not quite done with this yet, but here are some clay renders from zbrush:
Ill spend a bit more time on this, and then its on to detailing the armour.
Inpw : Thanks!
conte : Thanks man. The lips were masked in mudbox, to make them look pretty
Tamarin : Thanks man!
Caseyjones : You will have your lo-res soon, promise
Jimmies_the_squirrel: Now that you mention it, she does. Except that Katey Segal doesnt have the body of Arnold Schwarzenegger or a horse growing out of her ass
I wasn't able to finish this in time, between school and some other shit that came up. But the good news is that I've got 2 free days, so I should finish this by the 22nd. See me in Pimping and Previews!

I will pose the end result obviously, to make it look more like a chess piece.
cool!
are those sketches or actual geometry?
Japhir : Thanks! I was going for horsey, but foxy is an interesting idea, I think I might go for that instead of horsey. Thanks! These are just sketches.
I will remove some loops from the face, its too dense at the moment
The base mesh, except for the hands which I'm going to redo:
just curious, but yeah, looking great

nice work anyway, keep us updated, Man
caseyjones: Thanks casey!

P.S - also now wings please !!

Maybe her forearm musculature is too much.

crit: looks a bit masculine, maybe cause of wide shoulders and massive hands.
Nice work dude. I quite like the masculine feel of the character, I think it really suits for some reason.

To apologise for the lack of updates, I will now spam some masculine centaurwoman pron:
Expect real updates soon!
edit: nice tight details on sculpture.
