I installed the trial just yesterday. The interface is much nicer and brush and layer windows etc. are integrated now. So no more dicking around trying to drag them to the exact corner so you get the perfect amount of visible workspace. I am yet to venture deeper with it but so far it's pretty much the same on the surface.
I don't know what it is, but every time I open photoshop, any shred of creativity within me dies. Plus, I don't fucking know how to use it right, so that doesn't help.
And that's why I'm still sticking with ms paint.
Didn't even know it was out yet? Anyone know if CS3 does HDR layers yet? I want to composite some lighting tests and the values need to go above 1.0 I believe the latest after effects supports HDR compositing so I am hoping for this feature in CS3.
The lack of any artist using PS3 in this ad for something painterly kind of odds me out. Photoshop is used throughout the games biz and no representative in this ad? Why....?
Working with instances layers or editing more than one layer at the same time would be a great improvement for game artists. Im missing that feature very much when i want to make changes to my Diffuse and Specular Layers.
@ebagg
We are simple not enough, they make not enough profit of us!
They need an auto-offset option for the move tool. Something where you can grab the layer and move it and it just wraps it when it hits the canvas edges. That would be gold for tiling textures.
Not that Rawkstar would need any of that with his fancy infinite textures, but it would be nice for us mortals.
What I'd like to see is being able to proper import uv maps. I'd if you are painting a uv island, as your brush goes over the edge the painting continues on the appropriate island, giving a seamless transition.
Perhaps in actual practice it would be pretty shite, but I think the idea is nice at least.

Editing multiple layers has been an active feature in Photoshop since the early days. It's called "Flatten Layers"
Noobs!

A) Not many people have it, so not getting it right away won't leave me behind the curve
aparently the 3d mesh painting thing is garbache times infinity
C) Adobe is not only bad at making commercials, they don't target key markets.
Ive read over the features list and haven't seen anything that i NEED.
I think I'll wait to see if someone figures out some seamingly useless feature is integral for modern game development and get it when everyone else jumps on the bandwagon, until then Photoshop CS2 seems fine.
Had a noodle with it at work today. Some dude had it on his laptop and didn't have a mouse, and I only played with it for 10 minutes, but the 3d stuff does look a bit garbage. Great new UI though.
