i'm just messin' around with the most recent update...and i'm just wondering who here uses this plug-in. there seems to be sooooo much to do in it yet i never hear much about peeps mentioning it or anything.
Good thread idea, will wait and see what others have to say about it.
hhmm, i use it but there seem to be so much buttons to it that i sometimes lose interest in it. I know there's tons of neat tricks and all, but i prefer using Max inborn tools. There should be more explanation and a better readme file than just what they give you.
I use the free version and when my 20 attempts are reached i re-install it
Anyone else use Polyboost ? give use a few hints so we get better with it.
hah, interesting, my friend and I were both talking about this plugin earlier today. I was about to research more and check out the features when I came across this thread. I'd be interested in hearing what others have to say as well.
Polyboost is just awesome. I can't live without some of it's modelling tools now. It's a little overwhelming with it's tons of tiny little buttons with cryptic labeling. But if you devote a couple hours learning what works and what doesn't it's well worth the time. I originally just bought it for viewport canvas to paint away seams, but now I use it for MUCH more than that.
I haven't had a chance to check out the new tools in the update, but I'll be checking them out shortly.
UVW tweak is priceless for some of the stuff I've been doing at work lately.
Flow Connect is also awesome, saves a lot of time. I haven't had much chance or need to use much of the others, haven't done any hardcore modelling at work for a while. Will probably get a chance to try it out more soon though
I love it. UV tweak is awesome (when it works, sometimes its a bit buggy at least for me). Retopologizing with PolyDraw/border mmmmm yummy.
I also like Polyshift very much. Its much like the MoveTool from Zbrush!
Yeah, UV Tweak has always worked for me, but it does get quite slow on higher poly meshes, like 30-40k tris. Would be much better if it was smoother. I guess all of Max's UV stuff tends to get quite slow at higher vert counts though.
yeah...i've had it for about 4 months now and have slowy been using things here and there. i agree about flowconnect and polyshift. no more going back and forth in progs to move geo around fast.
i think too think the hotkeys and such shy some people away. but...every time i watch those videos...i'm like wow!!! look at all the stuff!!!
I use it and love it! Though it seems to disable my hotkeys like undo when using it, all in all its great stuff and its increased my modeling speed by at least 30%.
Polyshift is really great, it's like soft selection on steroids. It's great for breaking up symmetry on a finished model, or quickly adjusting a model's proportions.
Just tried the new update - being able to use the Polydraw tool in screenspace now is awesome! The border tool is one I use a lot, using it in screenspace is cool.
Cant live with out it. Easy to bang out low poly models over high res meshes. THe newest update has some KILLER tools.
snap.crackle.pop - its such a solid addition to max and sooooo cheap. WHen that combination is found in a plugin I think you should reward the programmer and BUY THE DAMN THING! I can see if it was hundreds of dollars but I remember it being around like a hundred bucks. Keep people who write plugins like this around by supporting their efforts. Leave the skating around the price and pirating for the software developers with HUGE pockets.
Hmm besides the kickass poly tools? at last a delete edge function that works! Max used to leave verts behind which also needed to be cleaned up, unless i was doing it wrong.
Psyk0, to remove edges AND the verts, select the edges and hit CTRL-Backspace. It has worked like this in Max for some time. I'm not even sure what the command is called. Someone here mentioned it a long time ago.
On the Polyboost stuff: I have been using it for about a year straight now and I can't live without it. Just the different ways you can add loops, such as CornerLoop, have made it totally invaluable to me. And I haven't even scratched the surface I'm sure.
just a quick question for the users....i realize you can select stepmode and select one poly...then select another poly along the same loop/ring and it will highlight all the polies inbetween. however, i can't get this to work w/edge selection. anyone else have that issue?

If i format my machine every week and re-install it, is this piracy ?
