hey guys, i've been working on this elf guy the last couple of days.
By the way, is it ok to use other peoples work as a reference (not publishing) becouse for the head i used reference from the swordmaster tutorial, by Seong-wha Jeong. (i did model it myself though)
here is where i'm at:

Looks good. The shouldermuscel/chest is covered with bulky cloth, right? I think you could put more polys in the head and his thumb looks broken to me.

ehmm... it wasn't my intention to cover it with cloth so i will tweek it some more later :P (when i smooth it all it doesn't look like that, also not when rendering but i'll tweek it) ok i'll work on the other things.
    thanks!

Id go over the proportions, his shoulders are huge and dont really match the rest of the anatomy. Forearm is too thin. Shape the foot a bit, his toes appear to be very long but tiny in width.

ok thanks! the fact that he's nine heads tall is intentional. I had a hard time with the arms becouse i first modeled them in a different pose (kindo stretched to the back, so i could see his side better and i could draw my orthos easier)
    ok thanks!

is this one better or worse than the previous one?
    C&C most welcome
    thanks!

    bit better
I feel his knees could be higher, and he has a tiny butt:P
The stomach could be more defined, polys there aren't put to much use atm.

Not bad, but his forearms look incredibly small, there aren't enough polys around the elbows or shoulders for good deformation, and the way you've constructed the shoulder doesn't in any way resemble real anatomy or muscle structure around that area. Get some reference and try to understand how the muscles there overlap and connect, you should be able to make something more believable.
Also generally your edge loops seem very straight and linear, there's not much organic shape in your polys, they all seem very stiff and grid-like. Vary the shapes up a bit and get some more natural form into the mesh.

Good start though, keep it up, and definitely make sure to keep checking the proportions and anatomy against reference as you work.

thanks! your totally right about the rigid edgeflow, i was wondering if it was a good thing or a bad thing to have the polygons flow like that. the shoulder was a bit of a pain for me, i understand how the muscles and bones are over there, i simply forgot to use that info in my model :P thats pretty stupid. should the elbow just be moved more towards the body or should i lengthen the forearms?
    ok thanks!

    thanks!
i tried to get rid of the rigid edgeflow on the chest/shoulders. It now is more anatomically correct (not entirely i think) but will it deform properly like this?

thanks again for all the crits and comments! really helpfull!

i agree with Mop, (and others)

use the crit. well, because when i look at the pictures, i hardly see any improvement..

Its difficult to tell from you screenshots, but it looks to me like he needs a butt looks pretty flat right now.

Hey Japhir, the mesh is shaping up nicely, I see you are improving it with each update, and I'm looking forward to seeing it textured. The curve of the back is nice, but you might want to re-examine the way the back of the neck flows into the traps. It seems like it's a little too abrupt of an angle. I agree that his chest and shoulders are too massive. They look out of proportion to his slimmer lower half.

    thanks for the feedback guys!
i've quickly slimmed him down a bit. Is the topology for teh back ok? I'm still not very happy whith the shoulder, could somebody please do a small paintover for the shoulders? that would be very helpfull! (or are they ok now?)
ok so here is the little update:

Hey Japhir, Nice job on the improvements man.

I have one suggestion though, not really a big deal, but I think he would look cooler with baggier pants. Not too baggy though, but showing some weight, perhaps hanging down the front a little. It seems like its kinda stiff and with the improved upper body, I think he needs some balance at the bottom now.
