Nice to meet you all, this is my first ever post here! Working my way up to become a vertex!
Currently working on a weapon concept to put in my portfolio - a bow with fantasy rpg/adventure game type in mind. I'd like to get come opinions from you guys.
Done in Max. 782 tris.
Threw in a reflection map just for kick:
Next I will work on arrow pouch and shield with similar style to make a complete set.

The hard corners of the trim doesn't match the smooth curves of the patterns and silhouette. You should round them off. To show continuous style throughout.
It's not really strong enough on it's own for a portfolio piece. Maybe with a character or as a prop in a scene. When thinking of portfolio pieces, think project (2week to a month) not prop (hour or two).
And thanks for the rounding the hard corners suggestion. I'll try different variations.
Make something more complete and comeback in a while, well done but your really not at cgtalk in the WIP section here.
So, I toned down the normal map and brightened the spec map, hopefully it looks look more like metal and less stony.
Here's one of the references I used.
