Depends what you want/need. I just got my wife a Gateway for $600. Dual core Intel, and an ultra-brite screen. It works great for her and looks great. The battery life is also supposed to be really good on it. She hasn't ran it dead yet, so I don't know how long it will actually last. According to CNet, it will go 4 hours.

But if you want it for modeling, it may not be the best choice. I'm not sure that you can get a great modeling laptop for sub $700 though.

Before you buy your laptop, make sure you check http://www.retailmenot.com for any deals that may exist. I found two promo codes there for gateway, and I was able to apply both of them (one for $50 off and the other was free shipping).

I think the cheapest best laptop u can get for modeling is probably the HEL80, the brand's called compal, kinda ghetto but the reviews are good. that same machine is also being sold by sager, don't remember what they call it. it runs i think just a little over 1k, it has a core2 duo and a 7600 card i believe, 15" screen, seems like a good deal, doesn't look like much though.

http://www.pctorque.com/PCTorque-Force-510.php - check it out its like just barely over 1k i think thats about as good as it gets for that price, and i also tend to stay away from ati cards, so.

you could also just google that laptop up, its more commonly known as the compal hel80 and i think u could find it for even cheaper. smile.gif

I picked up one off craigslist for $400. It handles most games and apps rather well. It has a few small problems, but was well worth the price.
