Character Artist
We are currently looking for a full time Character Artist to dazzle the world with their skills. As the makers of the Massively Multiplayer Online hits City of Heroes and City of Villains, we are looking for the artist who can make our super powers truly special. Being able to build dynamic and exciting characters is only half the battle! We give players the essential building blocks to create their own Avatars! Come, bask in the glory that is Character Development and reap the rewards for fulfilling the dreams of little children everywhere! Watch in amazement as your creations are spawned into wholly new creations, forever populating an ever-expanding MMO universe! You are a GOD amongst mortals!
Things we'd like to see:
1 to 3 years in game development
1 to 4 game titles shipped
2 to 3 years 3D Studio Max, Maya, XSI, or other 3D software with a focus on character modeling
2 to 3 years of Photoshop in a Windows based environment
Strong portfolio, demo reel or website demonstrating high quality art renderings
Portfolio must also contain:
A minimum of 6 pieces of 3D art showing wireframe and texture maps if applying for a modeling position
All work shown must be in a final state, work in progress is only acceptable if the minimum amount of pieces have been satisfied
All work should reflect the position that the applicant is applying for
Demonstrate the ability to consistently create compelling and aesthetically pleasing characters/creatures in any given style while adhering to polygon and console memory budget constraints.
Show proven ability to realize the overall artistic vision of characters/creatures based on designs, concepts or descriptions.
Understand the importance and role of character/creature art with respect to overall game play, player flow, environmental immersion, navigation and travel/movement ability.
Be skilled at modeling characters/creatures with or without concepts/designs, and display good modeling techniques and practices.
Demonstrate solid, efficient UV unwrapping and mapping skills.
Experienced in creating both high and low polygon character models.
Strong understanding character development, anatomical proportions, and physiology.
Be able to create custom materials and all associated maps (bump, normal, parallax, spec, etc.) for new or existing assets.
Show willingness and aptitude to learn new techniques, best practices, etc.
