low, I've two pairs of those, though unfortunately not in those fabulous colors. You will never, ever, get cold toes in them. Ever. You could be knee deep in dead whales while battling frozen walruses that shoot ice rays out of their asses and cause snow squalls to form in your pants and your toes would still be all "I'm toasty warm."
Where I live, nobody wears shoes. This here is Flip-Flop country. And I'm a stranger in a strange land. But I would go so far as to say that 100% of dudes have no right to be wearing flip-flops.
But when you do buy shoes, I highly - HIGHLY recommend zappos.com.
but thats just me, i like my shoes to last a few years. If you treat these shoes well they will feel as good as the day you bought them 5 years later. I'm not nice to my shoes at all and i have been wearing the same pair for the past 3 years and the same model before that for 3 years as well. Only reason i needed a new pair was i ripped the side open on a nail, that would have been my skin but the shoe took it.
How many miles a week are you planning on running? If you plan on doing 20 or more I'd say get a separate pair for running. Walking in your running shoes will change how the footbed compresses.
Gotta go with "skate" shoes for comfortable walking, they're all pillowy and soft, and they last forever. Vans, etnies, etc. Pay 70 bucks and you'll have em forever. I agree with having different shoes for running/going to the gym, and every day wear.
I really gotta get another pair of Vans, I would get the $30, they would last a good few years getting roughed up, and on the inside they were nice and soft.
BTW, those "gellin" ads are very true! I got gel pads for my doc martens and for my jogging shoes, the gel pads make them insanely more comfortable!
Hehe almost everyone here says "and they'll last forever!". Any shoes last forever when you sit at a computer and hardly walk anywhere. Honestly you could put tissue boxes on my feet while I'm at work I wouldn't notice. Once you stop playing in the street and using your shoes as the 3rd break for your bike (i.e. grow up) all of a sudden even the crappiest shoes last forever...
1) Doc Martin laceless loafers, but I pimp them out with arch support inserts. WHY do they make shoes like everyone is flat footed!? We do the whole take your shoes off when you come our house so they have to be easy on easy off.
2)Adidas running shoes for the gym and going for long walks/runs with the wife... when she isn't 8mo preg. These are 'gellin' like Elliot suggests and they couldn't be more comfortable. They have decent arch support too.

Shit, you should see what it's like when you actually ARE flat-footed. Almost none of the athletic and running shoes out there are shoes I can wear, just because they all have high molded arch supports built in. You can add an insert to your shoes, but I can't make my shoes any wider.
My current running shoes are stupidly expensive Brooks motion-control shoes; not because I run a lot, because anything from Nike, Reebok, Adidas, New Balance and nearly everyone else kills my feet.
I feel your pain Verm I have barney Rubble feet too...I hate shoes..I have some nice worx boots and my Vans are pretty comfy...but whenever I have to stand in one spot for along time it cripples me

White with the red stripe? classic.
I usually wear flip flops or my 510 tennies. A climbing approch shoe with hard stealth rubber. Perfect for some urban buildering or lounging.
Five Ten shoes
Like $20, can't go wrong there.
