Saw this a couple of weeks ago at the cinema. If you like Shaun of the Dead you should like this too, though I think I prefer Shaun.

I think it took slightly too long to pickup, but it's still a very funny movie and well worth seeing. The pacing isn't as even as SOTD, where there is a fairly consitent amount of action throughout. In Hot Fuzz it starts a bit slow and works up to quite a finale, as it's more of a detective/mystery movie, with Simon Pegg.

Maybe a tad long, but still very good.

See, I was expect SOTD and what I got was pure action? Very little comedy, was expecting WAY more.

It's great!
I was expecting a weak copy of Shaun Of The Dead, but instead i got a really nice cop-movie parody.
I think the trailer undersells it by quite a bit, really. While it's not as fastpaced as that suggests, i think it worked very well.

I thought it was awesome. Totally ridiculous, and that was part of the humour
I think a lot of non-UK people, if they see it, won't really get it since I'm not sure if the same village mentality of the UK exists anywhere else...

hot fuzz for the win.

Saw it afew weeks ago,loved it,got very surreal and has made me think twice about entering small villages in the middle of nowhere during random country drives,hehe

I dunno Paul, I think the whole 'backwards country folk' is a pretty universal theme My GF is American and is in hysterics at Little Britain. Still, it helps that she's been there and stayed at my mums in a tiny Devon town
Although I agree that If there are strong Devonshire accents and colloquialisms it's not going to do too well across the pond.
I've been longing for some Hot Fuzz action for ages.

Anyone know much about this?

I've come to the conclusion that anything Simon Pegg is involved in is made of 100% win.
I had to get a copy of Spaced shipped over from a friend awhile back. I've seen the series several times now. One of my all time favorite shows. SOTD was brilliant. I was very excited when I saw the previews for Hot Fuzz. I'm still wanting to see Free Jimmy though.

heh, couldn't agree more. If you grab the DVD they have an awesome Homage meter. Basically it just plays through the series and notifies you what this scene is paying homage to.

I loved Shaun of the Dead. I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. Hot Fuzz isn't out here for another month or two, but I'll be watching it when it does, especially after the Polycount recommendations.

I'll check out Hot Fuzz, but I'm not expecting much. Shaun of the Dead wasn't terribly funny to me. I guess I just don't get British humor. I don't like Monty Python, either.
