Hey all I'm new. Both to polycount and to maya at all. This robot thingy is the fourth model I've made in maya since I started learning on it about 10 weeks ago. I would have textured it up but I have absolutely no idea how since I haven't even started that class yet. Anyhow, I posted this in the "what are you working on" thread but I figured I'd post it here too in the hopes that I could get some thoughts on how I did before I have to hand it in next thursday. So slam away
Here it is relatively nicely rendered. I haven't learned a single thing about lights or render setting so this took me forever to get it looking halfway decent.

Obviously it has an ungodly amount of polys but the teacher didn't put any sort of limit on the assignment so I figured why hold back. At any rate, any feedback would be much appreciated

edit: sorry look like they are on the miniature, so hey you're just following ref. I still prefer the smooth panelled on in the upper concepts
