Aw man that's looking badass so far. The folds in the cloth are extremely well done... Especially the underwear. It's... Simply masterful. Anatomy as far as I can tell is quite sound! Keep posting updates as he goes along.
As an aside, you might want to put up your resume on your website in a non-pdf format as well, I couldn't get it to load in my browser and had to end the acroreader task. I was curious what you'd been up to job wise.
Wicked work! Love the cloth wrinkles, especially the undies/boxer shorts. Crit would be the suspenders(?) They seem to be too loose and too thick. But since it's not doing a good job of holding his pants up it's probably just too thick
Yea, the suspenders seem really loose and not stretching at all, but other then that its fucking gorgeous. Definitely gonna keep it in my inspiration folder.
Man it feels weird responding to my own thread. I havent posted any personal work in about 3 years.
Thanks for all the comments.
Poop: Yea firefox doesnt seem to like pdfs for some reason. I need a link to a html version aswell. As for work, Im still at Nerve.
Lupus: Ill try to get a wireframe up.
Mop: Thanks thats a huge compliment from you. Ive always enjoyed your character stuff too. Soo nice and clean.
Solvalou and aesir: Yea the suspenders kinda suck. It was all I could do at 3:30am to get them into this render. They will surely be brought up to the same level as the other pieces.
the collarbone still looks a bit weird,
the folds in the cloths are maybe a bit to extreem,
and those vains on the arms, maybe those are a bit to defined?
those are just some small points, besides that its freakn great
I'll second ren's points, and also, Im curious as to how you did all those little wrinkles on the elastic band of the dude's boxers. Was that just constant sculpting, or do you have some kind of shortcut, cause it looks phenomenal.
Looks like something id expect to see in condemned, very nice and crisp details. I can tell your just starting on the pants as you haven't gotten to the front pockets. Cant wait to see this done.
meh, it's alright...if you're into great work with awesome detail...ya know. :]
This is some really great work. He definitely looks like a weathered fighter, and someone I'd not want to meet on the streets.
The suspenders are still throwing me off though. I'd imagine if those pants were that loose, the suspenders would be more taut. I know there's more work you plan to put into this, but are those knee-pads part of the pants, or will they be attached from the back?
Anyhoo, lovin' this, can't wait to see more progress!
awesome work I'm feeling a bit of a clash design wise between the trousers falling down/baggy-arse, undies-showing 'trendy' look of his lower half, and the no-nonsense squinty hard-man of the torso. To me they don't fit together, but hey I'm not you :]
Rens: doh I forgot to work on the collar bone... Ill get that in the next update.
Ill see eveyones point about the suspenders I should try to integrate them better.
Here is the concept by Nic Klein... maybe it will clear things up. My guy is a bit older and weathered than his guy but everything is hopefully close to his design concept
Thats crazy dude. Only things I noticed arre that the belt is completely straight all around- maybe it should be lower in the front and a bit higher in the back, maybe even a little crooked. And his feet look a little small to me but I cant tell from the angle exactly.
Finally got back to this guy. Here is a bit of work on the texture. Still lots to do. This is only normal and diffuse. Nothing fancy in the shader...yet
Dude...good job, that is nice. The hair is siiiiiiick. I, too, request some wires The bare hand does look a little strange, though. Mainly the pinky and ring fingers are what's bothering me.
The lighting setup is pretty simple. Just a 3 point method in unreal 3 (roboblitz) I actually had a better set up than this one... I think this lighting kind of sucks and almost took down the images.
The shader is simple too... just diffuse and bump. I have lots to do on the diffuse and I still have to make a spec map but I think the final shader setup will look good.
Ill try to get some wires and things up soon.
Thanks for all the comments!
Edit: Here ya go. Hope you can see it clear enough... sorry for the size but I thought it might help.
Wow, man. B-e-a-utiful!
It's Marcus Phoenix meets Tony Hawk: The postapocalyptic version.
Really like his weathered looks in his face in contrast with his casual clothing, and the hair is awesome!
All he needs now is a nuclear-driven skateboard with dual turboplasma shotguns and a cyborg dog called Coco-5.

if it was in the original concept which he based the model off of.... then yeah, it kind of is. i see no reason to take it away, its part of his work.
very quality work, Bryan. i particularly admire the very subdued, desaturated color scheme. everything looks good and dusty, but still very readable--and little things like the red rag hanging out the back pocket really pop
particularly good work on the hair, i'd like to echo. help combat post-apocalyptic balding syndrome!

I can't say I've ever had a problem with opening PDFs in Firefox (unless the PDF itself was corrupt).

great stuff
something about his non-gloved fingers really bother me though.. they seem so.. sharp..
but don't listen to me I'm sure you know what you are doing! I'm just a noob!!
Can you give a quick run through of your light setup and perhaps show some texture flats?
I'm sure it looks great though!
Damn thats how next gen should look, somebody needs to let most of these "next gen devs" know already...
great skin on him

Is the inverted cross really necessary?
