Hello fellow Polycounters! I am a Game Art Student and as of late I have heard conflicting messages about the polycounts of next gen models, and there textures. If anyone could help me out and give me some number regarding acceptable counts and map sizes in the following categories, that would be great.
1. Polycount for A Character and Map sizes/types(diffuse, normal etc.)
2. Polycount for main weapon/prop and map sizes/types
3. Polycount for an environment prop and map sizes/types
4. Polycount for a vehicle and map sizes/types
5. POlycount for a building and map sizes/types
I know this is a lot but hey if anyone has a good idea of what any of these things, and how they are applied to games that would be great. I'd just like to hear more knowledgeable opinions on this subject, so I can hopefully narrow the condridicting opinions I've been hearing. Thanks a lot everyone!

hopefully it will be churning out million poly models with gargantuan texture sizes that make u feel like ur playing a movie.
oh and just wondering myself:
How many polygons should I use for the lead character in 3rd person hack and slash gladiator game for the XBox 360 where I have wide open arenas and normally 2 other fighters on screen at once?
but first:
isn't that a bit less than the 360?
but hey, thats some good articles u got in that site, to be honest.
