something wrong with DvD Playback

Ok , this is really annoying me , everytime i put a DVD it has timely slowdows, both sound and image, like ............|...............|..............| and it completely ruins watching a dvd , i didnt install any codec, no nothing, but its VERY annoying ! happened without reason.

Which player? Some have hotkeys for slowing playback rate, might have hit that by accident?

its the same on every player, windows media, The core media player, VLC windvd...:(

Do you have Process Explorer? Might be DPCs going through the roof, or some other process stealing power... Process Explorer can help pinpoint the offender.

I'm thinking it's a DRM type of issue. I wish I could remember the details right now, but I had to fix something like this for linux. Is this a retail movie?

every movie happened withou reason.Out of a sudden theres a somesort of "stop" in the image and sound . Process explorer doesnt accuse nothing out of ordinary

I've had the same problem Johny. I can't say I discovered a fix in order to get it running properly on all players, but if you do look at various movie players, there is a great difference concerning their performance vs. eachother.

For example, Windows Media Player plays my DVDs ultra slow. VLC Media Player on the other hand, smooth as silk. There probably is a better fix for this, but in the meantime, if you really want to see those movies, I'd use VLC. It's free, has great codec support, and is very stable.

yeah i know , i play vlc natively , and the core media player for mp3 , i have like 7 players and all they get like crap...

What hardware does your system have? Have DVDs EVER played well on it? Have you made any changes lately?

it happened from one day to another , i have a hm...ill have to check what dvd writer it is, but just happened

If it just started happening, then I'm assuming you've changed something that would cause this. Maybe even something simple like spyware or a virus scanner. Something is probably taking your CPU processes from the DVD program.

Also, if it just started happening, it could also be a sign that your hardware is begining to fail.

ill make scans, etc and ill remove the DvD drive to see if it is getting f00ked.
