To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.
To know the dark, go dark.
Go without sight, and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.
shhh... don't notify him of his mechanical roots... god forbid that such a great artist goes to 3dtotal... hush!
lol, u seriously are a machine though... uhh no... uh no ur not ... ur just a human, a normal human being, with no mechanical limbs or anything, i swear! yes... human [insert evil laugh here]
cool stuff man, I love the direction it's taking, legs seem a bit weak for now, but as it's certainely still wip I'm sure you'll balance everything son enough I like the solhouette aorund the head a lot too
new head for the win, old body for everything else.
you simmered off all the awesome from your original concept, I think. I loved the front tension cable legs, and long thin will always trump short fat in my book. personal taste, I know, but the arms were just more interesting to me. Really digging the Cybertiki and FrontSpine Technology
great concept, I like the forms, weapons and ideas. Only crit I have is to make the feet a bit bigger or add something for stability. Otherwize, its looking awesome, looking forward to the 3D version.
decided to go ahead and sketch in the volumes in silo 2...damn this program is sweet. everything in the sketch is throwaway...i'll be building the clean mesh on top of it this weekend. and the weapons aren't final. i'm probably gonna go with the massive triple blades in the second concept.
I really like the new concept man, though the legs from your first concept appeals to me a lot more. I think it was their length that just made the character cooler. With the standard proportion legs it gives your character a slight generic proportions feel. But who am I to argue with you
amazing... how'd find the time to do all this?
just a suggestion... i find the legs a little too thin and fragile looking, esp on the side view.. maybe you can thicken them?
Thanks for the feedback guys, it's definitely illuminating. so yeah, i'm trying to pull legs back out a bit more.
I'm going for like a floaty, top-heavy kind of looking character, and I really really want the limbs to be frail, so it's been a bit tricky constructing the legs right to keep that feel yet make them look sturdy. So here's another go at the concept...
I'm using a lot of cords, membrane, and mesh materials to give him a big silhouette and keep him massless so to speak...
the idea behind the weapon is the cords at the bottoms adjust the tension of the blades, so they vibrate at the proper frequency to shatter whatever hard surface. and of course i stuck guns in there too, as a cop out.
So let me get this right, you have the spine in the front and guns in the sword looking weapons? That's Awesome! Your new concept has a better flow and balance and yeah you've pulled off a lightweight character with a large silhouette here. So are any of these parts mechanical, or is everything just attached to him? Very cool stuff, now get to modeling you! hehe
Pretty happy with the proportions now...just taking a quick break before I start with the hi-res model. I'm pleased with how small he's able to compress...
Upright vs. Sneaky
The character's called a Mosca, mosquito being the miniscule version. It's pretty much a 31st century ninja.
it's the same mesh. i'm working on it upright for easy modeling and normal map baking, sneaky is closer to his in-game idle pose. i like building a skeleton early on for quick test poses.
I know now! Snowfly turned on his true concepting skills for this one so that he could beat everyone he concepted for . Haha just playing.
Really though. This is a superb concept. Its one of the most unique, but also one of the most fitting designs ive seen in this contest so far. Im really looking forward to the more progression on the 3d and will be keeping a good eye on this one.
I managed to muster up a crit and its the feet. They just dont look very practical for the maneuvers this guy looks like he could perform with the long flat thing sticking out the back. Its nothin special but i slapped on a couple different feet that would be more fitting for varied terrain. Im sure that you could do alot more with it.
F This 3D nonsense @#)(@)(#)(& Been trying to get a decent start all weekend, NOTHING, and it's 11:51 PM Sunday here. AUGH.
Clint those are great ideas, and very much more functional than my snow shoes. Thanks for tossing them up. Really liking the four-toed version, mind if i use it as is?

lol, good luck man!
been a while since i seen your 3D work snowfly, hope you can get something together!
jack, it's been a while since i've seen my own 3d too man i could use a concept tag on this one..
just reeling in those shapes...thanks for the input vahl.
