I just landed a technical artist position at Bungie. I'm pretty damned excited. You might even say I'm
super excited.
I'll be leaving GPG and the land of pre-rendered cinematics to jump head first back into the world of real-time graphics and game making. So I'll be hanging around here more (kind of got out of the habit for a while), if anyone has requests for MaxScripts just let me know. Anything you guys would find useful would probably be useful to the Bungie artists as well. And it's all about helping the artists get their work done faster and more efficiently.

I would like a script so that I can mirror vert positions from one side of the mesh to the other (think x axis mirror stuff ) But I dont want the vert order to change!!! (no symmetry modifier doesnt cut it I cant break the mesh I just want vert positions on the other side moving to match the selected side)
Failing that a good morph modifier where I can paint a blend mask would be nice - so that I can morph a complete object but selectively remove the morph from verts of my choosing. ( I think a paint function would be perfect for this)
If I think of any more I'll let you know ;D haha

I remember seeing a tech demo of the new crysis engine showing off something similar to that.
And congrats on the new Position!

Let me know if any of them work for you.

Halo 3? What's that?
smack Sussman on the back of the head for all of us at Terminal!
Good luck with the new gig!
Looking forward to some of your future tools as ive found many of your hints and tips as well as toolsets useful in the past.

Here is an idea for a script that would be helpful to MudBox/ZBrush users.
A script that takes the low poly mesh and makes a higher poly "middle" mesh with an average poly size for sculpting. The mesh needs an even dispersion of polys that are roughly the same size.
Maybe have a lowest common size input box?
Maybe take the size from a selected poly?
Edit: Jeez I don't think I could make a quick post if my life depended on it... Edited for brevity. And Congrats again!

I've thought about this kind of thing in the past and did some experiments, but never came up with something I was happy with. I'll have to go back to it and see what I can come up with.
And thanks to everyone else. I'm not looking forward to the killer crunch leading up to the H3 release, but I am looking forward to working with the Bungie crew and hopefully making a difference for the artists.
way to bee! have fun.
i hope i can get a job like that one day...

Eat your veggies, get plenty of sleep, and listen to your elders.
Oh yeah send me all the free Halo swag possible. I know about the upstairs storage type room with the sculpts, toys, shirts and other goodies.
