Some questions for people with xsi:
1. I’m modeling a character with a collar, the inside of the collar is visible and I want it to have a different texture than the out side texture of the jacket. Do I have to create new polys over it and parent the new polys to the inside of the collar or is it possible to paint a polygon with two different textures on opposing sides?
2. How can I get a texture on a transparent object to appear with out looking faded, basically making the geometry transparent with out making the texture transparent or faded?
Ex: a ghost is transparent but the textures for the eyes and mouth are not how I can get it so the texture is not transparent when applied to a transparent model.

2. Use an alpha map to control the transparency of your model. In XSI black means opaque and white is transparent (though you can invert it by just clicking the 'invert' box in the node). So the darker you make that part of the map, the less transparent it will be.
