Dominance War II - JFF

Introducing Gleam!

The war spills into the cities. Families are consumed, children take to the fight. Some children it seems enjoy the taste of war, their already psychotic personalities well suited to the killing.

What is Gleam's real name? Did her parents really die in an artillery blitz? Where did she find the gauntlet blades she wields and does she control the blades, or do the blades control her?

Only one thing is certain, reports coming in from the front line, of troop squads found diced, aren't exaggerated! The 'ghost girl' is real, and her name is Gleam!

So, my War entry. Below is the WIP concept to date. Wanted to do something that could still be violent/scary/cool whilst trying to avoid power armour and tentacles! lol
The material on her nightgown should be interesting to normal map with all the lace detail stuff....hopefully! lol

Welcome to polycount JFF! Very original idea and a nice concept! Maybe try to make it more obvious that this is a child from the year 3000, maybe try a more extravagant dress or something?
    Looking forward to more!

Right! Well it's been a coupla weeks, so I wanted to post to show that Gleam is making some progress. Tbh my last 2 weeks have been spent in Alpha crunch at work. I was worried I would never make the War deadline. That said the extension makes it possible again! Hurrah!

So a quick post to show a bit of Gleam's blade. This is the high res mesh. I'm gonna do the finer detail with a bump map rather than model to save some time. So that will be next. This material is just what I threw on to render. It won't be this shiny when finished lol!

so here ya go. However it all ends up, I'm enjoying it! laugh.gif

This one is just flat shaded. In case the shape was getting a bit blitzed with the chrome material! :O

    Nice work indeed!

Crunch - know it, know it only too well.

Even manage to play Sven Goran?

Time for another update. I'm pretty pleased with where the blades are at at the mo, so I've moved on to the dress. Below is a quick render with a very simple test material. The mesh is pretty early stages. The lower section of dress blocked out and I've just started the ruffle. Wanted to get it blocked out before going back and softening areas of the creasing and tweaking shape.

So there ya go. I'm finding time at the mo (thank goodness) and am really enjoying tackling a design a bit different from my normal modelling tasks.

Feedback on this or the design as a whole welcome.....in fact wanted.

Rick- lol. I never did get to play Sven, I did however admire the box in Woolworths and chuckle! lol

good execution, but I think the concept is kinda weak...Im not sure though, this could be great simply because of your skill level.

Very nice modeling. I think her head is too simple/boring. Something futuretech or alien like on her head would be nice.

A small update today. Something more substantial soon! (Well I would hope so considering how near that deadline is blush.gif..............

Dress done. If I have time there are some tweaks I'd like to do......there's always tweaks! But for the mo and considering timeleft......done.

    Okay. Latest Update.

After some technical problems (!) which are now resolved, I've got back up to speed again. Head is now done. (Although making the below render highlighted some issues that I'll tweak b4 moving onto the low poly model.)

I'm gonna do gauntlets next (and the arms too as the 2 are combined) and hold off on the hair for the mo, as I still can't decide the best way to do it.

Ken: made those changes you suggested and I'm def happier with it. Thanks for that smile.gif

    Right, back to it....:)

Very clean good model! Do you made it without z-brush or mudbox?
I think she looks too male, mainly because of her wide chin.
Her nose could be smaller and the tip of the nose is not seeable.
