My Max has rabies...

Max and I have been having problems lately. My latest issue though I'm unable to fix..

My mouse wheel was scrolling too fast, so I decided to slow it down by changing it's "Wheel Zoom Increment" setting in Max (Customize>Preferences>Viewports). So I set it to about .5 instead of the default 1. Now, it zooms slower, yay....but now my middle mouse button will not pan my viewport, nor will it arc rotate with alt pressed down. I've changed my zoom increment back to 1.0, I've restarted Max, I've reset the scene, and I've tried a new scene. Is there anyone out there that's run into the same problem as me? Does anyone have anything else I could possibly try? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't realize that the crap logitech software "Set Point" had been activated when I changed my mouse settings via control panel. Tip, if you ever purchase a Logitech Mouse...DO NOT install that SetPoint software. I have it disabled by default, but apparently it puts itself into the systray when you change a setting in the control panel. Problem solved, Max still has rabies though.

You can change your zoom increment on the fly by holding down alt while mmb scrolling for slow, alt+ctrl for med, and ctrl for fast

hold ctrl while mmb panning has the same effect, nice if you have a large model or group of models and need to traverse the scene quickly.

Any particular reason for your poor opinion of the Logitech software? How else would you suggest users configure the additional 7+ buttons these mice often have? Honestly, I'd like to know. I've never had a problem with them, though I've always wished for program-specific settings for the mouse a la wacom drivers (Which I just checked, have clocked twice as much CPU time than the setpoint software even though I don't think I've used the pen at all since last reboot)

Really! It's the Logitech software? I've had the exact same problem where Max will screw up the middle-mouse button operations for no reason (arc rotate will just stop working), and at seemingly random times. I tried hitting all kinds of keyboard shortcuts, and looking for info on the subject, but could not find anything. I do have the software running, I see it in the system tray, but I havn't touched the settings.

Also, is there something else in max that makes alt-middle mouse change to zooming instead of panning sometimes?
