Lead Environment Artist - Singapore

Muse Recruitment is currently looking for a Lead Environment Artist to join the Singapore Branch of an International Entertainment Group.

Job Purpose:
Oversees the development of run-time game environments by a team of Environment Artists. Partners closely with the Project Lead and Lead Artist to address all issues related the creation environment art. Responsible for setting and maintaining the aesthetic and technical quality bar for the Environment Art team.

Major Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Lead Artist to establish the aesthetic and technical standards for environment art on the project.
• Make a significant direct contribution to the creation of environment art.
• Lead by example. Demonstrate, communicate and exemplify clear expectations for quality of work, productivity, communication and professionalism to the team.
• Oversee the work of the Environment Artists on a daily basis, effectively communicating art direction, as well as delivering constructive feedback to work in progress.
• Partner closely with the technical support to deliver an efficient and stable art pipeline.
• Communicate technical guidelines for environment art creation and runtime implementation to the team.
• Establish a well-organized, focused work environment for the Environment Art team.
• Manage, mentor and coach staff, including writing and delivering one-on-one performance evaluations to all direct reports.
• Recognize and develop talent on the team
• Supervise regular team meetings.
• Work with Lead Artist and production team to set key milestones for the team.
• Resolve timeline and artistic discrepancies promptly and professionally with the Lead Artist and the production team.
• Maintain and communicate a strong knowledge of innovative game production technologies and the capabilities/limitations of these technologies as they relate to the project goals.
• Significantly contribute to the design of tools used in building run-time game environments.
• Problem solve and consistently present sound solutions to technical issues related to the creation of real-time game environments.
• Work with the team leads and company recruiters to build an outstanding team of Environment Artists for the project. This includes participating in the recruiting interviewing and testing of potential new Environment Artists.
• Perform special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
• 6+ years of professional experience in computer gaming or related field, creating run-time environments.
• A bachelor’s degree in a field of study focusing on the design process preferred.
• A significant contribution as a modeler / texture artist on a significant number of titles strongly preferred.
• A reel demonstrating outstanding modeling, texturing and lighting skill.
• A passion for gaming required.
• Prior experience leading a team of artist is strongly preferred.
• Excel as a team player and strive to maximize team/department performance.
• Demonstrated expertise working with Maya’s modeling / texturing / lighting tools is required.
• Good overall understanding of 3D computer graphics (modeling, texturing, lighting and rendering)
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize one’s own tasks and tasks of others.
• Outstanding coaching and motivational skills.
• Must be responsive to deadlines and work well under pressure.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor less experienced artist.
• Must be willing to work overtime.
