Ysabel, Navigator of the
Avriel, lost in the last Dominance war.
The great warship
Avriel was damaged jumping into battle and was lost in hyperspace with a damaged drive. Bereft of hope, and short on supplies the crew began to turn to depravities even their Polycount allies would cringe at. A great battle took place upon the ship. As the soldiers were breaking through the last blast door to the bridge, Ysabel took a last final step and contacted the demonic powers that had always dwelt in the Beyond. The results were terrifying.
Eighty-Eight years after she had been lost the
Avriel returned to the known universe. Those who found the damaged ship explored her, finding only Ysabel left still breathing admist the wreckage of her comrades broken bodies. Ysabel, face scarred with the marks of her own fingers trying to claw out her eyes. The scavangers tried to remove her from the ship, but the very hull warped and twisted and crushed the life out of them. The ship sailed on and was a legend for a decade.
Now, with the War of Domination begining again, the
Avriel has returned again. It is unknown whether Ysabel controls the demonic powers guiding the ship or is merely their puppet, but there is one thing that is known. She will not have her place in this battle stolen from her again.
Playing around with ideas, think I'm going to stick with this one even though there seems to be an abundance of female characters. This is the first one that really stuck with me. I'm going to be exploring the costume more but I want to start modelling by this weekend. No more waiting for the last minute.
Some of the sketches to get the rough idea out.

Her weapon is the possessed ship she commands. I've played around with some concepts but nothing I really feel strongly about.

I'll be interested to see how you keep that under the 1000 poly limit
Roughed out ship design.
I dont know if you want this...she looks very small to me...more like a child.
I decided to scrap the whole idea of doing a normal-mapped character. I don't have a lot of free time to work on this, and the monstorous size of the texture is really too juicy to avoid painting on. Old-school it is.
So pretty much finished the mesh and unwrapping and blocked in some local color. Also going to stick with the "demon pet" idea
Despite that, I really like this character and respect the thought you've put into her backstory. Model looks great and looking forward to seeing your further texture work. GO GO!
Been rediculously busy at work during crunch so not a whole lot has been done. But, I managed to sneak in a bit of painting here and there
looking forward to see more
