hi i decided to join also, some reaaaally early concepting (it is pretty boring still) i went for that protos kinda look :P creatureuk1.jpg
i like drawing with pencil and paper better, so i'll do that soon.

    I had a lot more time today to work on some concepts, i've been drawing some with paper and pencil but they turned out pretty bad and my scanner doesn't work. Here is a silhouette of another one i had my mind on. I really like the idea of that insect like human but I still have got a lot to do about this one. Any C&C's would be very much appreciated! I'll try drawing some pencil drawings using this concept silhouette soon too.

    his head reminds me of HR Giller's alien.
    He looks pretty cool.. Detail him out a bit before modeling is what i'd suggest.

    thanks, that guy's aliens are cool, but i didn't base mine on it becouse i didn't even know those :P
    I wanted to draw some more detailed images but I didn't feel like that so i started moddeling... laugh.gif probably should draw some more first. I didn't make up a story yet... might do that while drawing laugh.gif ok thanks again.. lets grab some pencil and paper asap.

    thanks guys, here is another thumnail, i like the human style better, i think i'll work at this one more:

    he's like some kind of stealth sneaky murderer. i thought about adding some sort of rope too, then he could sneak up from behind and strangle the enemy :P well... just an idea.

    well here is a color update, i'm still learning digital painting... here is where i'm at:

    i wanted to make the places where normal seams would be light and also add a cool pattern (didn't do that yet)
    now lets add a weapon, i think i'll make some sort of pike with the same green as the seems or i might make a normal gun. I know it isn't that original yet... gotta work on that too.

    Give him some unique and awesome armor, because he doesn't quite catch my attention right now. I think its a good groundwork, but I would say perhaps expand more on it before you go any farther with modeling.

    i've already been working on the weapon concept.. it is some kind of laser gun with a sword like thing at the end and he can also use it like a fighting stick (like a ninja or something)

    i'll try some different armour types soon too but i want him to stay flexible and fast... I first tried improving his base (muscles etc..) I also made the weapon less dodge and burn like.

    I actually really like this design. I think you should keep his body kind of amorphous and his suit a bit loose and wrinkly... I am imagining an evil version of Gumby

    ow and by the way.. how do i add wrinkles the most natural way? with dodge and burn or just with small brushes? (i usually don't use dodge and burn 'couse then the colours aren't that full)

    I usually work in black and white and then color later-- it's because I suck at coloring. Here is what I was thinking, although it's a bit goofy...

    I figure he has to wear the suit to protect him from his own weapon... a shard of dark matter that instantly vanishes anything it touches.

    hey i've been trying some color variations becouse my brother said that the green lines didn't seem special or cool, becouse he was entirely green. So some doodling with the hue/saturation bar made this happen:

    I think you should go back to your concept and take the ideas of what you want him to be able to do and just free yourself from restrictions of "normal". it's hard but give yourself some honest thought and go thru your inspiration folder for patterns and designs that catch your eye and then come back to the thought. i think you just need to let your mind go loose and jsut start over exxagerating things and do 12 different thumbnails with different proportions and silhouettes and work from that. Just a thought but it always helps me

    damn thumbnailing surely isn't my favourite stuff...
    here are some simple thumbnails, i personally like 3 and 4, i like the tallness in 4.. that makes him sinister :P

    I tried using that same tallness as in the other one, but also make him look strong and capable of fighting... sinister and strong :P

    hard to say something, bc the thumbs are not realy nailed down.. but the last (7) is better

    if you want to make some humanoid creature you should keep within the proportinal boundarys and functional-sprectrum of the skeleton beneath

    I suggest that if you have not found a idea that you like yet you should find one of your current sketches and try giving it actual character and not just a silowet. This may help you deside what they are truly going to look like and an idea might stick. If this doesn't help keep plugging away at more sketchs and look up references for the type of character you are going for to see what other people thought up.

    thanks! i've already got a better idea than what i've done so far.. still need to draw it though.
    it will be a huge sumowrestler with some kind of jetpack on his back, so that he can fly up, then do a bodycheck and crush his enemies. (he should also have this dumb expression on his face :P) if i have time i'll draw it soon
