I'll do my best to support polycount. I finally got some time to sit down and draw some concepts. But I'm not sure where I'm going yet. I really do suck at drawing, but I'm trying my best.

I'll do some more tomorrow and hopefully I'll have something that can help us in the battle.

    I like these long arms and legs a lot, maybe he can make some really cool acrobatic kung fu kinda moves. I think a psyco face could fit for him. smile.gif

    So I had some time before work now, and tried to make some more thumbnails, although I think I think to much when I do these so they take a bit of time for me, but hopefully something will come out of it.

    right off the bat,. i can tell u this:
    1) butterfly wings above the guy with smiley face banner is a no-no... it seems angelic... not demonic
    2) guy with sword and shield (left of guy wit smiley face banners) seems simple. im sure with detailing, he could look cool...
    3) guy directly to the left of "2)" looks the best out of all of these.

    umm... that's all i got for now...

    and hey.. if u think too much, then i think waaay too much. i can't even do thumbnails!

    Thanks for the comments, I do like the "creature" with bad ass wings, but I also like the left one with a big sword and high collar. I made some new thumbs and also a bigger one just for a change and some thoughts I wanted to try a tad bigger.

    The mask workes like a sound radar it picks up soundwaves and translate them so she can se where it is and the range and stuff like that. Then she have a gun for midrange and a sword/dagger or something else as closecombat weapon.

    Any ideas, thoughs, or something?

    So here comes some concepts. I like the idea of this creature, but not that much of the clothing, any ideas of how to make this one fit into 3106?

    Ok so I have to start this if I'm ever going to finnish it before the deadline. So I've finnished my concept, well things will probably change during the other stages but atleast I have something to start with.
    Not sure if I'm going oldschool or normalmap this becaus I don't think I'll finnish in time if I make it normalmapped as I've only done like one normalmap :P any suggestions?

    Havent had much time last couple of days, but I've done some improvments to the mesh, let me know what you think. please!

    the one thing you can count on here, is for people to ignore you unless you are a superstar...

    Let me see if i can help, though i'm by no means amazing myself (feel free to drop crits over in my thread).

    i really like your concept, it's really powerful, and your model almost reflects that, but it's missing some key features. The way you stylised the concept was great, but you've left some out of the model, make the knees thinner, and the elbows. those joints really made your concept pop.

    have you tried adding some of his armour as elements, rather than having them all part of the same mesh? you might get a cleaner result doing it that way.

    Looking good, I might not agree with the proportions but I understand it's design so it might turn out good.
    It might just me but I get the spaghetti feeling about the limbs? perhaps it's just the pose/render.

    Thanks for the reply guys, I'm not sure that I want to use those really thin joints. but I'll try it out and see how it looks. I don't want him to break on one hit smile.gif

    And about the armor as elements, I did have it like this before but I tried to include it in the mesh, and hopefully I don't have to many elements now instead.

    Cool, I really like the proportions... It might completely screw it up but it might be worth trying to elongate the torso a bit and extend those legs about another head or so... I think it would give him a slightly creepier feel and make him look even quicker...Either way this designs really startin to come together!

    I see our talk was a good one, love how you executed the idea of making him slender, it adds so much stealth and agility to him.

    Seeing him like this I think his texturing screams to really show of wirey tendons. But I'll catch ya on msn and we'll chat about all that. You're a fine addition to the army man smile.gif

    Looking good man! Agreed with the_bird, longer legs could be cool.
    Another minor crit, the armour that wraps around his head should be a bit wider, like in the concept, more bulky.

    Thanks for the replies guys, it sure helps. I made some changes now, the torso and the legs where lenghtened a bit, and I made the mask little bigger to, and added some armor and I'm also trying out some daggers/shortsword for him.

    Ok first I didnt know if I where going to do normalmaps, because I don't have so much experience of them, but then most people want them right? Anyway if this ends up like crap, I'll just do a diffuse texture, but I might aswell give it a try.

    I've been working hard on this last two days, sorry for not puting any updates here meanwhile.

    Ok I'll ditch the mudbox for now as I've been away on vacation. I'll go oldschool instead. I'll make a nice normalmap after the contest is over, I want to have something done at the deadline. smile.gif

    Cool! It's looking very dark though, and I think it might look better if there was a stronger contrast in colour between the skin and the armour.
    And use a grey background, it's hard to see the model on black.

    your texture needs less shading on it. Use specular and normal to define details

    i believe he said he'll ditch the normal map?
    does that mean u've got rid of it completely and are goin with a 'diffuse-only' model? cool! might be the only one for the comp? (dont know what poop's planning though)

    well, he looks awesome, i can tell u that, but the glowies should (definately) not be pink. [i hypnotise u... do green... do greeeeeen].

    Thanks for the comments, and yeah I've ditched the normal map completly, going oldschool with diffuse and spec. If I'm the only one, fine by me. I need more practise with highpoly stuff before I can make awsomeness smile.gif

    @ Indian_boy: so you don't like the purple, havent decided on the final color yet, so we'll see.

    The diffuse is coming along really nicely. Your model is looking better than half the normal mapped ones out there. Once you get a final polish on the diffuse and hit up a spec map, it will definitely get the character to pop. Considered doing a bump as well?

    Thanks caseyjones, I'm not sure about having a bumpmap but here's a wip with specmap added. Now with glow also, not sure if I'll have it in the final. and colors still not final.

    diffuse looks great, why did you get rid of the yellow glow for purple? the contrast kinda made him more freaky and threatening for me cause it matched his eyes. Purple makes me think of sweeetees lol, maybe thats just me.

    Ok not much time left now, and for me I have to have it done by tomorrow... Tobad I also have to work :/

    sorry for making such a lameass weapon, hopefully I'll have some time to make it a bit nicer, same for the podium.

    I'm quite happy with the pose and all, but skinning isnt my thing really, but this have to do for now.

    Any suggestions before I'll finnish this up that can make it somewhat cooler?

    I personaly like the simple blade. It looks well used. The only thing I dont like is the fire coming out of the end, it just looks out of place for a simple blade.

    I dont know what program you are using but I would make dead grass on the remaining surface of the podium (not grids with painted grass but 3D generated grass with a wind blown back effect to it).

    Ok so time is up for me, I'm soon going to bed and tomorrow I don't have a computer until wednesday. So here's what I'm submitting. I would like to spend some more time on it though but I have to call it done now.

    And thanks Cridder for suggesting some grass, made it a bit mor interesting. and for the glow from the weapon good idea to remove it. I'll settle with just a slighty glow there instead.

    You know, this is damn impressive for a rushed finish and no normal maps. Like someone else said, yours looks better without it than some entries do with one. I think it's all the definition you've textured onto the characters skin that really gives it appeal. Cool pose, and lovely beauty shot. Good luck!

    Thanks for the kind comments guys. I'm already looking forward to next year fight.

    Still need to fix a couple of things before I'm pleased with this one but now I don't have a deadline anymore hehe..
