pay attention, now! this is polycount, not one of those other forums where the entirety of peoples' postcounts appear to be nothing but aborted reservations to contests they didn't participate in at all... you're a regular (check 1) and i know you've got good shit (check 2), so let's have some CONTENT with our posts! (check 3!)
heres something i am still trying to figure out. i've taken a liking to barlowe's inferno works lately so i want to try and create something creepy yet pristine in some way.
pipes are the new crates, but that was four years ago... what are the new pipes?
barlowe's inferno, as i've already cited even last year, is just about perfect inspiration material for this compo. i think you're rock solid on the elements you've got in place, so just get the arms and legs resolved in the same style and you're ready to rumble some polygons. hup to!
very nice! I like the maybe by accident, but cool anyway, mixes of the demons from Wayne Barlowe and OIP kit from Takayuki Takeya. I'l be keeping my eye on this one for sure! keep up the fine work!
There are a lot of little things here and there that are going into this. i am not sure if i want to keep the squidy softness or go with a more decrepit look
this is sorta the idea i want to do for the body. i plan to really distort the shoulders, waist and armor to make it more bizarre. same goes for the long spindly legs. the arms split into two forearms at the elbow, kinda like general greivous in ep3. i'll elaborate a bit more with his weapon. i'll have to model it out now to show you all what i mean O_O
coool stuff! really like it a lot! but how is this one going to fight and be a war hero? your gonna give him weapons? I don't like the legs that much... they are kindof cartoony and weird. (no knees and bones visible)
The legs seem really out of place with this guy. The arms are an interesting touch though, I'm still sort of undecided on them. I would like to see another concept page focusing only on the arms and legs. And hell, he could still be a war hero! Maybe he's a psychic or something... perhaps some backstory, Mr. Artist?
Personally im diggin the arms alot. Very cool head design aswell. I must agree with the others that the legs are out of place tho. Although they should be odd looking in order to coordinate with the arm design, right now they kind of look like noodles hanging of the bottom of the body. They should be more fitting of the bony almost exoskeleton-like structure that the top half is.
about the legs, I like what you're aiming for, just needs a few iterations on the precise shapes I think. make the joints more obviously functional and I think you're onto a good thing
honestly rather disturbing, in the best way possible. great to see you follow through on this beastie so well--nail the creep-out appeal of those first few sketches and you're golden. keep rocking!
looks like this is starting to come together, man. One thing I'd be careful about is the amount of micro detail you're getting in the nose area. It's starting to look a bit noisy. I can't wait to see the fleshy head-fin things worked out a bit more.
i actually ironed out a lot of the nose detail because i thought it was too busy as well. i actually went thru a lot of changes to make the actual 3d model not look like a star wars character. theres so much surface area that i want to define its nuts.

took a break to detail the head a bit. there is exposed orangy flesh in the middle of the cadaver type head
