Thank You Hot-Iron! GL!
Nelizor: Good Luck to you too, looking forward too see your stuff!
Gaus:, My time machine appears to only have the capability of traveling forward in time, solly.
here's the concept.
I was thinking about doing a sniper with heavy russian influences. I'm not shure about the weapon though, I'm thinking about giving him something longer.. and harder.
Yes it was definitely influenced by GeOW and other stuff with chunky armours.
Especially Bauhaus and Imperial from Mutant Chronicles.
God, those designs are so frickin sweet, and yet so simple.
DeathByChris: Yeah, first i Was thinking of putting something else at his arms instead of leather gloves.
But since it's an easy shape for the eyes to read and he's a sniper, I think he needs gentle gloves or something similar that gives him better precision.
I'm open for ideas.
I also don't want too many noisy areas since it's alot of that going on already at his knee- and stomach-area.
But I will definitely define the gloves for him better, if I'm going to keep them. I just smeared som red color on there in a hurry so he would have something.
Skankerzero: Therefore the rebel-scum won't take notice of him when he's taking out their leader.
We'll just need a scapegoat, or blame it on the boogie.
Katzeimsack: That's why polycount is evil, the rebels won't know what hit them.
He's getting a more accurate weapon for a sniper, but that's tomorrow. Gotta get some sleep now.
I've been thinking about scrapping the whole sniper-idea and make him a Psi-ops character instead.
If he's going to be a sniper he has to lose most of the upper-body armour, and I think the armour adds a lot to the silhouette and character. So a psi-ops it is.
Defined the concept a little more and did a quick paintover to see how he looked without the armour.
Starting on the highpoly tomorrow morning.
Mmmm, that's some sweden love. I really like it, even if it has a bit of a GoW vibe to the design, (esp the boots). I personally like the right one a lot more.
I couldn't agree more. He looks like the Communist of the future. The one on the left looks really UT07, if you know what I mean. Crazy good drawing though.
Wow, this guy is incredibly heavy duty. Hmm, I like the guy on the left better but that's just me. Another color might be a bit refreshing too...even a hint.
the color scheme still reads as maybe a bit too simplistic... and like i've been harping on with other people, when people see what they expect to see, i think their brains tend to shut off. and in this case, that means they may not be taking the time to appreciate the interesting shapes and detailing you've put in on this guy.
i'm getting a bit of that myself: i see the red, the little hat, the star, and then i say "space commie, ok."
it may behoove you (oh yes, 'behoove') to do some quick color studies in photoshop, using my old friend and yours, the color shifter. i'm not saying you need to bust out with a sinister-green color scheme to fly the team colors, but i know you can get something more exciting than what you've got. pushing colors (maybe even camo, dare i say??) will help what is otherwise a somewhat reserved design stand out better. cheers!

Nice stuff, i like the perceived weight of the armour. It gives him a nicely distinct silhouette as well.
But I cant see his specialization.
He's just a cool soldier atmo, doesn't look like specialops at all.

I would say the legs are a little bit short, but thats only personal preference. I think if they were longer he would look more menacing.
but honestly, they're both really cool characters
Most of the highpoly is done, so i'm going to pop it into mudbox after I fix the proportions.
but anyway is cool. keep on!
