    okay, now that we're all done high-fiving each other, how about getting some thumbnails in here? it's great we're one big happy family but THERE IS A WAR GOING ON IF YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED!
    ahahah ... ahem. like i've been saying in, well, just about everybody's thread, getting some quick thumbnails together is the best thing to do at this stage, don't get too caught up in one single pet idea. we're in the early days of the compo, but that doesn't mean you can just rest on your flabby laurels, no sir. i've got half a mind to close threads that remain those awful sort of placeholder, no-content topics that you see so very often in other forums. but i stress other, because we certainly aren't like that, are we? get to it! smile.gif

    Bam! Damn it's been too long since I posted in my thread.

    This is a concept I've been refining since the war began. He's been through a few iterations and for the most part I'm happy with the design. Although I think I will give his armour some pointy, thorn-like edges to make him a bit more menacing. I'm also not 100% on the colour scheme.

    This guys deal is, he's an expert electronic saboteur and anti-mech combat specialist. Thanks to his funky implants he can interface with computer systems wirelessly and discharge powerful bolts of electro-magnetic energy. This enhancement also powers his blade. I should also mention that he is batshit crazy and has a taste for flesh.

    He's looking pretty good so far. Do you think his glowy blade might draw a bit too much attention away from the rest of the character? Perhaps it might be a better option to have the glow on just the edge of the blade and/or some decoration.

    Theres also the fact that he's likely to chop himself in half if he's not careful wtih that thing, but I guess that adds to the whole batshit crazy thing.

    Jackablade, you were spot on about the blade. I thought it was a bit too big and glowy myself but I wasn't really sure about how to tackle it at the time.

    Along with that I've made small changes in many places on the concept. I've also included a scan of some of my pencil sketches to better show off a few areas of the concept that are unclear in my painted version. This will be my last concept update, hopefully I should have a base mesh built for mudbox soon. Although I may do some colour scheme thumbnails as I'm still not sure about the current one.
