After rising through the ranks, this general decided to take a more active role when war engulfed the galaxy. Joining the rest of the shock troops at the forefront of battle, armed with his leadership skills, and the biggest sword he could find, he quickly made a name for himself among his peers, and underlings alike.
soon the green tide would overwhelm his enemies, and they would learn to fear all that is green, when led by Almighty_gir!!!

not much, but im not too good at this sketching stuff. how much does your concept contribute to the final judging?
don't worry about the concept, i don't think it really factors in all that much in the final rankings--well, not directly; obviously, having a solid concept (conceptually speaking, not necessarily in terms of the illustration) will be key to winning.
i like your enthusiasm, first of all, and it's great to see one of the very few people with an image up in their first post. but it's just an early sketch--so why don't you size that down about half what it is right now, and post some more? in fact, do a few thumbnails, like 6-9, and start looking at shapes, at silhouettes. this guy needs more strong, iconic features. he's got the hair and some vaguely spikey armor over the shoulders, but he needs a lot more.
and as i've been telling others, don't get married to an idea early on; you want to be in a position where you can pick and choose the best among some good candidates, not just going with the only thing you got (just like with women! ahahaha).
so do some thumbnails--head over to MoP and Tully's thread to see a very good example of what you should be doing. Do a bunch of thumbnail's like MoP's and you'll be well on your way to an interesting character! i'll help out with a paintover if i can, but you've got to realize that it might take quite a while, if one comes at all. but don't worry, i'll still be around to help out as much as i can. keep up the good work and keep us posted!
sketched out a couple of thumbs, i really like the dynamics of the robed dude near the center, could be a lot of fun to elaborate on =]
i don't really want the armour covering his whole body. going for the assassin kinda feel, but with enough armour to keep him alive in a tight spot. the suit will most likely be the same kind of mesh suit as the new superman suit, although i have some cool idea's on how to make it looks nasty.
Exagerate those idea's:D
thanks for the tip, ill get back to grinding away in photoshop.
I think you can come up with something better than Batman gloves and He-Man shoulders
started hitting out ideas for an exoskeleton style armour, i really dig the idea, but i dunno how to draw it =/ i know exactly how i want to model it though...
the idea has now evolved, so the armour is more of a living carapice, rather than just some suit of armour. these assassins have the plates grafted to their skin during childhood, it grows with them, and accentuates their features, adding amazing defence to their lythe movements, and incredible skill with weapons.
does anyone even want to help me?
working on the low poly mesh, gonna completely remake the head i think...
remodeled head, used my own as a reference.
quick (very) colour overlay to show the kinda thing i'm going for...
