ok, can anyone tell me how he steals the second painting?

after watching the movie 3 times, trying to see what i've missed (and cos its a fucking amazing film). i'm lost... i cannot figure it out!

i saw this film years ago, thinking it was "ok". but now i'm older i've found it to be a true work of genius, and probably one of brosnans better roles. but please, someone put me out of my misery!

IIRC he didn't steal it at all?
Ages since I saw it, I do recall something about a different painting when he gets away at the end though.

near the begining, Thomas is talking to the insurance woman, in the museum, and she says "i would have stolen that one, personally".

at the end of the movie, he plays his "faceless buisinessman" game, and reveals that the Monee was always there, but they find the painting she pointed out, missing.

She recieves it from a random buisinessman at the place where they were going to meet.

I think he just nabs it after chucking the smoke grenades in.

Been awhile since I saw it though, I may just be spouting bollocks.
