The game was a lot like asteroids, top-down space shooter, hundreds of players to a server, each ship had either one or two guns and bombs, some had bouncy bombs, one had no bombs, maps were simple dividing wall mazes, two popular maps were walls in the shape of the deathstar and the Mortal Kombat emblem.
The Quake 3 Arena mod was one of the two[?] 2D mods, I remember one was good and the other was not so. The good one had a volley ball mode and a quick draw mode where everyone had cowboy hats on. Finally, is there a donwload location for the Q3Bouncy! mod anymore?
