this thing is gonna be sick, I cant wait to see when it has some spec on it...
one thing that is bugging me though is the scales? are they suppose to be scales, or skin warts, or what? im assuming scales. if so they seem maybe just way to un-uniformed I guess you could say. I know you dont want to make them perfectly uniformeded, but even snakes have them more unified than that ya know?
I don't know if there is more a set description acording to lore, or the contest, but what about adding a snakelike tongue of some kind? Or some long nails to make her more savage looking? I agree with the scales, they should definately be tightly interwoven like a real snakes, and that will also provide great reference in getting some neat patterns (maybe with more subtle colors).
What about adding some kind of color pattern to the brown snake body, and use something similar on the snakes on her head? The right hand is posed well, but the arm being straight seems a little more graceful than if it were bent at the elbow and looked tense. Maybe some lizard like bumpy eyebrow ridges? Not sure, just throwing out ideas, but tis lookin great.
Nup to all- unfortunately it says it has to be 'Rays' version- which means the skin, eyes, everything is based off the stop motion model. Which is actually just liquid latex- balloon rubber (so no hard spec).
I am itching to pump her up to realistic cg, but the challenge is to make rays model! -Hence the wooden stand to make her look like a good interpretation of a model rather than a dodgy real creature.
The 'scales' are actually spots of clay slip dabbed onto the original sculpt with a brush- not wanting to crit the great master (he didn't actually sculpt her anyway- a woman assistant did) but they don't look like scales at all- more like warts! I am sooo tempted to do a modern take on her after this challenge- blend those snakes in, make them look like actual snakes, have them twist and flow down into her spine, give her real snake patterns, cobra hood neck etc. Will be good fun.
Awesome model. Imo the bow need a little attantion, and the background. I mean, personally i don;t prefere pure black or pure white backgrounds, something in between is good, eyeballs don;t hurt, and i can see the details.
Great job. Nice tits :P
Sounds like a really cool comp, I agree the skin needs more variation. I think Ray's version had some purple shadow spots and a slight reflective surface. Good luck with the comp!
yes it is a great likeness indeed. looks really good dave. if i may...the only thing that catches my eye is the expression on her face. in the first post she looks scary and angry as hell...just like she came across in the movie. however in the final post she looks a bit shocked in a slightly comical way.
