Problem with Maya

Hello guys.
I'm making a model but i ran into some troubles.after i softend the normals of the head,i saw some hard edges around the ear.when i imported the model into deep exploration,the models ears were gone and there was a hole where the ears should be.i also imported the mesh into wings3d and if i move my camera inside the model,i can see some faces inside the model that shouldn't be there,i can't really just delete those edges.any help is welcome.here's a pic to show the hard edges around the ear.

    I suspect that the normals of your ear are inverted. As for deleting unwanted edges, try deleting faces.

    Inverting the normals did the trick.
