Position Title: SOE-1109 - Lead Server Programmer
Location: Seattle, WA
Sony Online Entertainment produces and distributes online entertainment targeted to mainstream consumers and game enthusiasts and owns and manages http://station.sony.com, one of the leading online entertainment networks. SOE also works with Sony's U.S. operating companies in the area of online advertising and sponsorship sales. We are headquartered in San Diego with offices in Austin and Seattle.
Responsibilities:
Manages, advises and/or supervises 6-10 programmers
Responsible for managing the server programming schedules of assigned products.
Work with a team of highly talented programmers, artists and designers.
Design and implement both client and server side game code for massively multiplayer games.
Provides technical leadership and has ability to anticipate and resolve project roadblocks in new product development.
Develops in general, or in area of specialty, technical design, and engineering plans that produce high quality products with efficient and reusable code.
Evaluates technologies, specifies, designs, and writes application code.
Responsible for developing, writing and debugging code for complex products and applications.
Knowledge of best software practices and the ability to work efficiently and independently.
Works well under pressure and can handle multiple tasks.
Requirements:
At least 4 years of technical management experience.
7 years of C++
UNIX experience.
Strong experience with client/server/ network Programming (TCP/IP, UDP, Sockets)
Experience programming in a multi-threaded environment
Understanding of the underlying architecture and implementation of the peer-to-peer and client-server models
Experience with both Win32 and UNIX platforms.
Experience with SQL Databases.
Developed and shipped at least 2 games or consumer software products.
A passion for games.
Education and Experience:
B.S. in computer science preferred.
7+ years professional experience.
Experience working on PC games and/or MMO experience preferred
